When life throws you a few curves
GET YOUR KNEE DOWN!!
just brought some silkolene super2 inj as i was just fouling plugs all the time with comp 2 plus so ill give this ago and its only $16 not $32 just hope the semi syn will be ok for the rg 250 87 model
I run a tweaked Aprilia RS125, I tried to stick to only Motul fluids after rebuilding it ground up and the 800 line is pretty good it smells yummy(way better than friggin' strawberry) and I don't know what these Castrol oils is you lot are rattling about but Castrol R30 is the best, stinks like shit but goes like stink, plus least cylinder wear from my experience auto-oils fine, and half the price of Motul. all the rest of my fluids are still Motul, wouldn't mind finding out about "Royal Purple?" lubes they cost even more than Motul so they'd wanna be good.
Does anybody have any input for the Silkolene Comp 2 Plus in the RGV250?
Was going to try Silkolene comp 2 in the RDLC.I use to run Belray SI7 in the RG500 but that was along time ago.
i have been running it in my rg 250 87 model all is great with it but at 32 bucks a ltr every 2nd tank is expensive 4 me at 120 ks a tank so i have just got some semi syn silkolene inj havent put it in as yet cos i can get mobil 1 racing 2 t fully syn 4 50 bucks 4 ltr but i dont no if its ok in a inj system
just some advise with the pods, dont run ones that have a metal backing plate,as it upsets carburation,go for some foam unifilters,as far as oil go's,over the years ive tried them all, cant realy say any of them were bad,i use valvoline racing oil,its cheap, and dosnt gum up the pv's,i run pre-mix.32.1![]()
Just for those that dont know,Yamaha recomended air cooled 2t oil for the RZ,why,i dont know
I'm looking at buying a couple containers of motul, is anyone interested in a bit of a group buy ? that being said - is there any one here that works in a shop - that might be interested in giving a bit of a better price on a bulk buy ?
Come and see us in the 2011 Avon Descent - we're racing boat #234 !
Is there any differences between 2T oils for marine outboard engines compared to oils for bikes.
Reason asking is that I can get my hands on a 20L drum of fully synthetic 2T oil for marine watercooled outboard engines for cheap.
^^ don't take this as gospel, but...
I'd suggest that marine 2t oil is not necessarily made for high rpm - boat motors are generally tuned for more low down, don't have power valves, etc.
stuff
Haha, it was something like around the $100 mark for a 20L drum.
I'm going to check again on how much exactly it is and I'll get back to you.
The oil is Gulf Western Oil, but I'm over on the east coast so I'm not too sure how sending 20L drums of oil would work, I'll find out the options.
I knew someone who ran outboard 2 stroke synthetic oil in their Rz for quite a long period, without having any problems.
I wouldn't do it, Ive been running tts for 5years now without any problems .

Just curious that no one has mentioned penrite oils in this thread, as they make a fully synthetic , non ester based 2 stroke oil. it is suitable for injector or premix too. I use their oils exclusively as they have always proved to be the best quality oils for the given application and australian made to boot. I wouldn't expect people's experiences to be all that bad.
I've been using Opti-2 for a while now. The manufacturer of the oil claims 100:1 in "any" engine, being the dubious fella that I am I've been running it at 75:1 with no problems, it's still pretty smokey!!! Apparently the guarantee your engine at 100:1, they believe it's "that good."
Opti-2

have you read the gordon jennings article about 2T oils that claim 100:1 ratios?
http://edj.net/2stroke/jennings/oilpremix.pdf
Good read!!!!
Although, they were using antique oil and my belief is still that newer synthetic oils can be run at leaner ratio's. Like I said "being dubious" I am running it at 75:1 with no problems and no signs of accelerated wear on the bore or piston skirt through examination up the exhaust port. My engine is supposed to run at 50:1.
