Question 2004 Aprilia RS 125 clutch adjustment help

    Hi there,

I'm having some trouble adjusting the clutch on my bike. I've followed the instructions in the manual but now I can hear rattling?? When I tighten it more (about 2 full turns from where the tension starts) it stops.. Reckon I'm not doing it right.

    This is what I did,

    Slacken Nut
Loosen grub screw and turn back in until feeling resistance.
From this position on turn back 1/2-3/4 turns and counterlock.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers
    Nick

No experience with the RS, but how does it feel when you ride. Are they new fibres, or original. At a guess the adjustment is designed for fibres and steels that are within tolerence (the perfect world) if you have some wear then I would be picking the middle ground, good grab, and least amount of freeplay not to be engaging, least amout of rattle to comply with the previous.

If you cant find a happy medium then id be measuring your fibres and going from there. PS pleanty of RS hooligans here im sure will chime in.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a total noob when it comes to this. The RS is my first bike but I do have a good mechanical background. I noticed that the wheel would keep spinning on the paddock stand with the clutch in so I thought it needed adjusting.. woops Didn't realise I could put my hand on the tyre and stop it spinning with minimal force So it probably didn't need adjusting.. But now I've put it out an need to get it back to where it was.

Grab yourself a Haynes manual, the best $30 you'll spend on the bike

All good now, cheers :-) The adjustment per the manual didnt work. Let the clutch out and went nowhere lol. So I left it with no tension on it. Working fine now
