The Athena kit should be good for 70+HP with mountains of torque. Great choice
you'll feel like you can fly over mountains with that torque......weeee

The easy bit - out with the stocky and in with the horses
Stage #1: New motor - F2 pipes & standard carburation (the run in)
Stage #2: New front & back end, new pipes & carbs based on flow testing.
Stage #3: New paint & cosmetic's
Will post more as i go along with full motor spec

i notice there is no spacer plate, im curious to know how the +2mm has been allowed for? machined domes?
ive been sitting on my athena top end for ages, cos i was stupid enough to buy a long rod stroker crank which requires new pistons and domes to make work. its going to be cheaper for me to toss that crank in the bin and get either a standard crank or +4mm with standard rods to finish the build.
Good question Gozer... i changed pistons to a set of wosner which have a lower pin placement which negated the need for the spacer plate.
I also had a set of new domes made by TSS to match it all together.... i was held up for a while on this until Steve ran over the numbers and came up with a simple solution.

I reckon painted black you would need a keen eye to see those cylinders were not stock LC. Of course if you would have to get close to it to see first. I trust you have budgeted for a suspension and brake upgrade?
100_1122[1].jpgIan_Southerton_LCRGV[1].jpgEEknows,
I have 2 options ready for suspension upgrade and will finalise once its being run-in: 1. 2 x Ducati 340mm FF disc's, braids & forkbrace. 2. RGV front and back end with conmesurate suspension and braking.
Im trying to keep with the RD style so will just wait and see which way i end up going (see both options in pic's) - Would appreciate the pro's and cons for both please.
As far as motor HP - yeah they wont pick it given the 347cc on the barrels i reckon.

Hey Oiler,
That's my Orange RD, that I got from Evil Dwarf.
I can tell you that the single disc, braided line and caliper conversion Steve did are awesome. Really Strong.
Going for a twin disc set up would be overkill in the performance area in my opinion, but would definetely look great.

Thanks Benno... im hearing you on both accounts.. its why i chose this config as an option in the first place after talking with Evil... it looks like it stops like a barstard which suits me fine.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....awesome progress! nice looking clutch at least a grand there hey, was only contempting one when the US dollar lowers itself pass AU$1.20 but no locker clutch????? Finaling got some tyres on my project care of Pirelli due to fact that Bridgestone 003 160's are actually 174mm tread width??? WTF?. Pirelli on the other hand are bang on 160mm, happy days!
Hi Shadow78,
Heres what i can recall in terms of motor build + other mods
Anthena kit 391cc with 180 deg TSS balanced stroker crank = 421cc
Changed to Woosner pistons - 4mm lower gudging pin placement to remove need for 4mm spacer plate
Hinson heavy duty clutch kit with TZ springs
Balanced +4mm TSS stroker crank
Matched casings & air intake
V-force reeds
Heavy duty rollers bearings
New bushes & bearings throughout motor
High flow water pump
Rebuilt oil pump to suit
Straight cut primary’s... not sure on this or ratio
F2 pipes with modifed spigots to suit athena kit & standard carburation - stage #1
Air intakes - TBA
Flow tested for pipe design & carburation completed by wobbly in NZ – part of stage #2 to come after run in
PWR RD LC Heavy duty radiator - modified outlets to suit Athena kit
Frame mod's & stopping - See other post on this issue
The motor design targeted giving a road usable bike with around about 70HP which could be stage upwards if desired - i spent a fair bit of time on this before moving forward and the proof will be in the riding it around 7th of June when the final component turns up being the HD PWR radiator.
Will post more photo's in a week or so when progress milestone reached.
Cheers
