Sorry mate just tuned in and still drooling and smelling the smoke ! How good was that ! 1st PI GP race. Gardner, Rainey, Sarron all swapping places for the second half of the race. Call me one eyed but you dont see the tachos jumping all over the place like Magoos on board camera on todays 4t`s. Like riding a bucking bull I would think. 119 KG and 165 odd hp combined with a narrow powerband makes for exciting racing.....sadly missed.

Hey Benno, it was on between 2:30pm and 4:30pm WST on Fox 505. It came up in the description/planner as the 2011 world superbike championship?? I actually tuned in around 3:00pm so missed the beginning. I immediatetely noticed it was the 1989 PI 500cc gp race. Had some great interviews before the race with Gardner, Lawson, Rainey, Schwantz etc. Obviously a programming error for the better so unfortunately I cant tell you what the name of the prog really was. I will try to find it through Foxtel though. Hows life in sunny Broome ?

Heres a short 10 min clip. Shows the "Tall Texan" getting booted off his bike on the first lap. He always was entertaining and only one world title in 1993 the same year WR has his bad crash.

Mate, I just got home from judging a bikini contest. Its blue skies & 30'c everyday.
    So not too bad.
Just wish we had better roads for riding and I didn't have to work so much.

i caught it, was the first AUS GP and was attended by 100,000! i literally thought it was a highlight real and sat fixated for 15 minutes untill i caught on that it was lap for lap. haha didnt help that they didnt seem to have cameras at every corner of the circuit back then, i think the constant overtaking was catching the commentator out aswell. Funniest part was the lack of professionalism (or brain) of that backmarker! i think it was Rainey that had to actually barge through him on one corner with his shoulder lol how racing has changed!

It could be on tonight again at 10pm or again Wednesday 7am & 10pm. Assuming foxtel have called round 1 at PI 2011, I'll be checking them out and will let you all know.

Was 91,000 and still get a bit misty eyed when ever I see footage of 89 GP at PI. There was a big cheer that literaly followed the leaders around the track. That was the time that a lot of backmarkers were unfairly tagged 'playboy racers' etc etc but the reality was they were riding machines sometimes 15 years out of date. No wonder they sometimes got in the leaders way.In those days if you owned a 500GP you could just about get a start in a GP race !
