    Castrol Power1 TTS in RGV250/RS250s

Anybody who has run the Power1 TTS through their RS or RGVs please comment on your experiences with the oil.

I recently picked up a 4L bottle and planning on running it through my RGV

i use it in my rz mainly cos supercheap stock it, making it easy to get and reasonably priced

its still expensive tho even buying 4L works out close to $20/L.

at 7L per 100km and 30:1 ratio and $1.30/L for petrol

thats $9.10 worth of fuel and $4.70 worth of oil per 100km

so if you want to use the castrol mineral oil at ~$12/L that would work out to be ~$2.70 per 100km, i use more expensive synths for peace of mind rather than any experience of two identical engines run in a side by side trial and one having 100psi compression after 20,000km and the other 105psi

one thing i will add, is ive never had a pinch up despite all my fueling and tuning problems which included a complete top end melt down. ive always used synths, manufacturers claim they are more stable especially at higher temps?

be interesting to know what oils people were using who have suffered seizures.

another thing i wonder about, is premix vs auto pump; maybe this is why despite my fueling issues ive never suffered a pinch up? cos oil delivery is independant of fuel and if the motor isnt running well (requiring more throttle) then more oil is being pumped in.

it seems to me that the autopump lubrication mechanism doesnt dissolve the oil into the fuel but trickles it into the bottom of venturi and the fuel air wash and blow it into the motor where it pools in the bottom of the crank wells is picked up by the webs and flung everywhere.

wouldnt a premix where the oil is dissolved evenly through the fuel would burn more and send more oil to exhaust?

i like to yank on the auto lube cable on startup and shutdown to make sure there is always plenty of oil pooled in the crank wells. somewhere on the net is an old ratty scan of an article comparing fuel : oil ratios and they sell a pretty convincing argument to run 2T's rich of oil rather than lean.

is that the castrol you're talking about? 1L bottles are expensive but the 4L bottles are quite decently priced at $75ish per 4litres.
