Am I reading that right. People paid upfront for a kit that was not yet produced?

    Smile

Crikey, what a blurb, nice find SPman, educational read to say the least, I may have ported my PV's a bit much maybee.
The thought of the TS500 not being what I had pictured in my mind, is like losing a loved one. At any rate, without picking sides, I and many others have dealt with Steve, he has proven to be reliable and follows up on service. So I have faith that he will keep the dream alive, I mean christ, if he doesen't, who am I going to buy my new PV's from. Hang in there Stevo.

    Good luck Steve,
Im really glad i went for the 421 stroker now which you & your father built up for me while i watched on (see 421 stroker thread). Ive been to Steve's workshop 2 times now and talked for hours over engine design and he was right on the money for me. I guess i heard all the noise on this thread about the TSS500 but given the service i received could not understand the big deal... until the penny dropped for Steve some months back.

    Cheers

Yeah, it's been the most interesting topic of conversation on 2t forums for a while now.
It's been boiling for a while now and to see the TSS pop their head up into the line of fire has been priceless

Yikes - that is one massive disaster - it's impossible to stop reading the thread. I've dealt with Steve @ TSS and he was fantastic to deal with, but I don't know how he could've stayed 'hooked on the line' of the engineer for so long, wasting so much money and time.... tough lesson.

the idea of a plug and play rs500 was just brilliant... but for a man so in the know with 2 strokes himself, i cant beleive this 'engineer' had him fooled so long...

i have known Steve since long before all the tss stuff started happening.. he contacted me when he saw my rz350 powered mito. we chatted and shared the love of the simple 2 stroke engine as he was intending on buying some rzs for his business i visited him one and helped him put together some bikes..i have also sold and bought lots of stuff over the few years .
The thing i have learnt about Steve is his amaizing motivation and drive, his commitment is something else...perfectionist
His claims and promises can only be reflection by his honest faith in the product , this faith may have been blinded a little by his enthusiasm and only ever wanted to pass this on.. however it would seem that all this has been compromised by his trust in his engineer... this i truely believe .!!
befor you judge him..take a complete look at just what a mammoth job he has taken on...i have been riding road 2 strokes only for ever..and i could never dream of taking on such a project..could you? Every single person i chat 2 now when selling 2 stroke parts mentions steves work the world over..he has given the 2 stroke new lease of modern life.
when ever i would speak to steve he would tell me of all the major developement and work and money he had been spending and altho i was impressed and very interested ... i could not help feel that this bike /engine was becoming more complicated then it needs to be.. well for me anyhow.isnt that why we love these engines in the first place. I think now he will take time to reflect and get back to basics. keep ya head up steve

Although I do believe this engineer fleeced Steve fairly thoroughly, this is still no excuse for taking peoples money for an unfinished and untested product.
There are two questions in life.
    1:Which way do I go
    2:Whats the lap record.

But isn't that up to the buyers too? I mean, to fork out 10k for a bike that isn't developed yet, that is putting a lot of faith in a project...

    From here
    The Two-Stroke Shop 2-Stroke Shop
Well, now it is being built.
And the best news is that it is developed, tested and built by a 500cc Grand Prix Engineer. Yet the RS500GP is more affordable than you might imagine - that's because we at TSS are phenomenally passionate about advancing the cause of the two-stroke road and race bike.
Fortunately for the two-stroke fraternity, a chance meeting with famed Grand Prix Engineer Wayne 'Wobbly' Wright unlocked the key to really perfecting these promising hybrids. Over a career spanning more than 30 years, Wayne has designed and built and tuned the best. As a 500cc GP Engineer, he built race-winning pipes leading racing teams. His engines and pipes and ignitions have won GPs and Championships all over the world.
Total Price of a fully built RS500GP: USD$22,000
I have not saved those, they are currently on his website, right now.
    season 2012 is coming.....
