NS400R any good or am just be nostalgic

Use to have a NS400R, run it for a summer until it nipped up then had worked on into a 485cc, dream machine paint job (tear effect doohan style paint job) used it for the next summer but then suzuki released the L model GSXR750 with classic blue & pearl white colour scheme and it was traded it immediately .
I have a V twin, a V4 and a V6 plus a single so a V3 would fit into the garage nicely but was the bike any good or am I just being nostalgic for my youth...Don't remember missing the NS once i got the GSXR back then but....
    whats the forum thoughts.

if you remember in the 80's honda was trying for the rights for gp bikes to be 3cylinders but the never succeeded so thats why the development stopped hence why now they are so few

anyway good luck with your quest

    Absolute Rubbish.
They went for the one crank design due to lower gravity and transmission loss with 2 crank design like Suzuki and Yamaha.
    Lighter and more useable HP.
And they were succesfully rewarded with a WC title by Fredie Spencer.

    And with lower production costs.
Honda also pushed for the 131kg? Min weight as theirs were 114-117 with cf clipons and titanium pipes. Trying to rationalize the costs involved.

    My Humble opinion,

i have an RD350lc (now 421cc), RZ500 and a NS400r and i got to say the handling & performamce of the NS is a hands down winner.

    Cheers

The NS has gearbox issues but otherwise a tidy machine. The RS 500 is triumph of simplicity, a GP and privateer mainstay for many years a awesome machine.

ive read about these ns gearbox issues, 2nd gear especially AFAIK

you ask the question of is it worth it? Well its always worth it when you get older and reminisce.

Especially when youve got the cash burning in your hand, scouring the classifieds for the one, only to find it didnt make it home and the hard to get parts that it needs you cant get...

its s shit answer i know, but an opinion none the less
    Lost and on reserve

Can't think of a time when RZ 500's were used by privateers in GP's. The gearbox has some issues the 2nd gear problems showed up with road use, after some tuning...................
