Hi All,
For anyone that cares or is looking at doing Rear Stand Spools for the RS125 1999-2005 model (now i say 1999-2005 as thats the type it is, my particular one is 2002, so not sure if there are minor differences in the rear swing arm) :p
The hole in the rear swing arm for the attachment of the Rear Stand Spools is a 6mm +/- through hole with no thread! You will see on most websites advertising the 6mm spools fit most Aprilia's, no specific mention of it not fitting a RS125, but I tell you it doesn't!.. i now have a spare set of 6mm spools for my RSV4 when i get it.
Perhaps the RS250 and upwards all have pre-threaded 6mm holes as opposed to a 6mm through hole. Anywaymy one was actually 6.7mm so i needed to order a 8mm Rear Stand Spool.
From the research I did, it appeared that I needed to have at least a 6.5mm hole, but no larger then a 6.7mm hole to enable me to tap a 8mm thread into the hole (damn thats a lot of holes). Picked up myself a tap and die kit (best thing I have brought in ages!). Measured the thread length of the spool and marked it onto the Tap and then proceeded to tap the hole with a few sprays of WD40 along the way.
The result..... now have my bike purched up on a rear stand (thanks KANEG). I don't know what I'm going to do with all the spare time i'll have at the end of each ride as these things make chain lubing a massive amount quicker.
Now to finish my clutch work so I can get back out for some fun.
