    RS 250 Piston Size's??

Not sure if it been asked, but i have a 98 Rs 250 and am looking at a top end rebuild.
My question, is there only one size of pistons? is it possible mine is an oversize as i have not stripped it yet.
I am looking at buying the genuine Suzuki top end kit from the old mate in Brunei and am away with work and would like to have them there for when i get home to fit..
    Cheers.

    thats suzuki pistons for ya....

i see the other piston is very close to snapping the skirts too... i bet the broken one come from the left cyl.. "the front one" I have been down that road 12 monts back, just rebuilt the top end and put new suzuki pistons in... pop pop rattle rattle one dead piston and one knocking on deaths door..

if your thinking about getting more power out of your RS250, do not use stock pistons..

it was the top piston that was damaged no cyl damage at all, got a suzuki top end kit for $300 landed not looking for xtra power just a few track days i hope.
will definately need to read up on how to set up the power valves though, looks challenging..

it looks like its hard work but if you can translate the S%IT in the manual and put it into human talk, its a walk in the park :-),

im very suprised it was the RH cyl that broke the skirts off before the LH, another RS on the tracks... great to see.. my rs should be hitting eastern creek in the next month or so...... so effin keen!!!!!!

I've downloaded the rs/rgv manual off the af1 website hopefully that will explain the power valve set up procedure and off to the track we go..

Yeah the other piston is not far behind has cracks in skirt etc, F knows where the broken bits went!!

I found 90% of the little end bearing & 80% of the rest of the piston in my chamber, the rest was either stuck on the cylinder, in the reed valve or blown out the arse!!!!!

was not a good day at the track that day,

they was the suzuki piston, the other piston had worse cracking than your "half broken one"

im not using the suzuki pistons again, there are stronger, better pistons out there that wont snap..

the suzuki piston skirt has a major flaw and they dont hold its strength at all, someone did have a rumor that they was good for 65hp but i guess i blew that theory out the window.

Skirts crack if your clearances are excessive. That's why aftermarket pistons come in 4 grades/ sizes. Go and get your barrels measured and order the correct pistons. The oem piston is rated for 500 kays under race conditions, wherebys vertex are rated for 10 hours. It all depends on what you want out of your engine.

RGV Kit manual says 250 km for pistons, brand of piston makes no difference they are just a shit design. RS/TZ pistons are good for 500km tuned to the point of detonation each time the engine runs. Don't try that with RGV pistons will end in tears.

This is what i was thinking with my barrels ^^, ..but the odd track day should do no harm on the std suzuki pistons hopefully as they're on the way..
