Hi All,
Finally bit the bullet and booked my bike into a 2 stroke mechanic - took around 10 phone calls to get someone who 1. Knew what they were talking about and or 2. Happy to work on a 2 Stroke.
My bike has been running really really bad in the bottom end, almost to the point where I was planning my trips to avoid round-a-bouts and traffic lights as much as possible. After spending an hour in a car park practicing take offs I was convinced that it wasn't just my inexperience in riding a RS125 but that the bike was running lean or had some other issue related to fuel/air. Anyway I pulled it apart cleaned as much as I could and did some googleing on similar problems, didn't resolve the issue.
So this morning I take my bike to the mechanic at 9.30..... smelt out the whole workshop and the showroom with 2 stroke whilst showing them the bottom end issue. Anyway they spent 2 hours tuning it and also fixing a few other minor things wrong with it. The dude took it out for a test ride and I could immediately tell the bike was running much better, it sounded so angry!!
I watched him hammer it up the street and it seemed so happy. Turned out to be a mixture of air filter issues, lean/rich mix of the main and idle jets.
My turn to jump on ... ease the clutch out, only 3000-4000 odd rpm >>> ahhhh nice smooth take off no sputtering and carry on! stopped at as many traffic lights as i could and beautiful take offs each timeso happy.
Return to the shop, paid a very reasonable price for the work and the mechanic also took time to show me around the bike and point out the things to keep an eye on etc. Couldn't be happier with the service provided and the price. If anyone wants to know who it was please let me know, I'm not sure if i can post it here or not without starting a WARThis particular shop also had a nice 600 I've got my eye on for my 1st big bike
