    rz transplant

sooo... i bought a matching numbers bike and have been tidying it up for transplanting my 350 gear onto it..... just a little update... frame and all brackets powdercoated for the matching numbers bike... cases and side cover blasted... billet kickstarter... ceramic bits and pieces all done... nearly ready for final bits added etc... awaiting a 350 oil pump.... and worm.... on its way... :smt002 :smt003... and last issue... brake pedal is interfeering with the kick starter stroke... so i may have to find a folding foot pedal or similar item to use the kicker... otherwise its carry an allen key around..... bugger :smt013 :smt013 :smt013 imagine the shit fight if you stall it at the lights... steering head bearings replaced ... blah blah blah....

looks just like the other one doesnt it... unsure of the side cover... might get the spare one ceramic coated ??? or powder coated ??? it was black before....

    ...

previous photo of side cover.... old photo....

working on the kicker this week... i have tarozzi rearsets and the brake pedal arm has a bracket that can be modified so i can flip it up out of the way for kicking her over....

just like the 500 you have to lift the footpeg to start it..

    thanks for the compliments fellas...

they are lomas pipes.. should have it running today... going riding though....

    keep it shiny side up

    Hey Aaron,
Evil Dwarf fitted the flip up tarozzi's to my 350 and they work fine.
Although it still runs the standard kicker, so that pretty useless info really.
Enjoy the ride, I so wish I lived closer to some twisties, we will one day.

Hey, would you mind giving me the name of the guy's who ceramic coated your pipes. I'm think about getting my RD350LC pipes done.
I've seen on another forum that others plan to use the same guys and I believe in giving work to those who do good work and word of mouth is a real compliment to them.
I'm even prepared to send them from Broome so thats speaks for it's self I think.
    Cheer's...

procoat berkleyvale... (02) 4388 9946 Mark or Mitchell...... kurt@tac.com.au ... they have a website also

what are your pipes... mild steel ?? if so ... before you send them go over them with some sand paper to remove any weld splatter etc... it may not be removed by the blasting
if you do some prep the end result will be perfect ..

should be relatively cheap... $200 as a guess

did evil dwarf do the modification to your brake arm ?? does your standard kicker hit the brake ??? mine doesnt ... but the billet one is a different shape

had a little set back yesterday... another head stud let go and is stripped so barrels off again for a helicoil

27 years of abuse without a torque wrench is taking effect

As nice as it looks, is ceramic coating on a smoker a good idea? I thought it held the heat in, the name of the game with a 2 stroke is to get the heat out of there as best you can. Happy to be told im wrong though, coz it does look good!

it doesnt seem to affect my 500 with heat etc... ceramic is a thermal barrier
it might change the heat and resonance ???

didnt 125gp bikes ceramic coat some of there components
i wouldnt ceramic coat the barrels though...
this has been discussed before... my theory is the heat change would be very minimal

hey benno.... i think you are referring to the footpegs folding up ??? i am referring to the brake arm rotating up and around 160 degrees so its out of the way for kicking it over

    does that make sense ....

i prefer the wet oiled look of naked welded spannies. just they soon end up looking like shit with surface rust and staining without surface treatment

ive got a couple of cans of jet coat 1300F in clear i plan to try on next set to see how that comes out.

Haven't ever heard of the brake arm rotating, post a pick when you can.
I'm interested in seeing how it works...

will do.... did you see the info above.... have you pulled your rear sets apart to see what makes them work....
its all clear when you have had a look at it... sounds like a pain... but the kicker hits the brake foot pedal by 10 mm

all it is needed is a channel for the dowel pin to move in and the whole brake arm can be rotated up ...

Shame about that O ring, you certainly don't deserve that sort of treatment form a loved one.
Nice job all round again, your attention to detail is second to none. That old saying, "if its worth doing, then its worth doing properly". Did you wright that?
