It's not in the quokka but it's a 2 stroke 250 and rare as hell in these parts:

3XV TZR250 (hope this link works, stupid autotrader site is so damn difficult to link to sometimes)

If the link doesnt work, details of the ad are as follows:

YAMAHA TZR~ 250 V TWIN. $ 3,800 . PH 0412833460

Its the late model version with USDs!

Not a bad price, I would hate to have to track down parts for it if you ever needed them though.

I have only ever seen one in Perth (probably the same one in this ad actually) and that sat down at one of the causeway shops for fookn ages.

Cmon Sathid, snap it up, we know how much you love these bikes!

thats actually a 3xv, not a 3ma. I would LOVE one of those but dont have the $$$

you can actually fit the barrels etc from a tz250 racebike on the engine....very quick, awesome handling.

Thanks Troy, another pretty average week.

3K for a few h1 engines and a frame? They are rare, for sure, but not that rare!!!

Also, the LS rgv250 and the KR1Ss have been for sale for ages. I called about the rgv a while back, it's an M model, repainted in LS but apprarently a gen LS bike. IIRC sounded like it had a bit of work done on it, not what I was looking for though.

Is there any difference between the normal M and the Lucky Strike apart from the paint job?

If the lucky strike was in totally original and good cond it would be worth chucking a cover over it for a couple of years, It's not gonna be a Z1B or anything for a while but it's probably the pick of the bunch of RGV's (for history and value reasons) and hey, we are getting to the end of these bikes being a regular occurrence in the classifieds. I wouldn't mind one sitting in the corner to one day bring out and enter the historics and street races that occur around the place.

My mates dad has purchased a yamaha rz500 V4 Wayne Rainey Replica. Totally mint condition with only 20k on the clock, it has been stored for many years but he has just completely stripped it down to every nut and bolt and started rebuilding it (you should see what CLR "calcium, lime, rust cleaner" can do to bring up carbies and stuff). In fact, I am about to do it to my carby on the KH125 so I will try and get some before and after shots up.

There is only one guy in Australia (that we can find) who can coat the wheels the exact gold they raced with back in the 80's, and he is doing them on this as well as my mates dad has found an original and unused set of racing pipes for it ($3500 complete, he hasn't got them yet), and we worry about spending that on our whole project . I 'spose his incentive is a bit greater with the value of the bike in the end.

I am really considering buying something like this but when I look at sathid's RD i think I wanna do that!!

The pepsi 21s are more sought after.

There are plenty of LS ones floating around, they pop up more often than not.

Finding a good rgv in wa is hard though. Lot of thrashed ones around. The 91 M that was for sale a few weeks back was one of the better early 22s that I have seen. Lots of them over east, I'm thinking about taking a few weeks off and going bike shopping in nsw/vic.

The Pepsi ones, I forgot about them.

Wow I was just going to post if anyone is interested in buying bikes and parts from over east, I am looking around at wrecks so I can repair my trumpy and was thinking of looking around at another project as well. Unfortuntely I dont have any holidays left now to go myself but I would assist your trip if you could check a bike or two out for me. I can organise cheap and safe freight (if a few people are interested in bringing bikes back we could get a good group transport buy happening)for the bikes or If you are driving I can help out heaps there too.

When do you think you might do something like this?

I am not in any kind of hurry, these are just project bikes.

Anyone else interested in anything over there?

Maybe a cheap or crashed bike you can turn into a track bike?

I am hoping to go over in March/April for 2-3 weeks. It's a 50/50 at the moment.

For the right bike I may travel sooner.

End of the day tho I have plenty of time and will wait quite a while for a good one to add to my collection.

2strokes that are apreciating in value are the bigger CC models like the GT750 and the RG500
Even the original 500 Cobra is starting to be wanted more and more.
Models like the KR1 are valuable due to the fact that they were not available in the land of the 2stroke ebthusiasts, UK. Kork Ballington, Anton Mang.
2 strokes that have a race herritage are the ones wanted.
For all you afficionado's of the mighty 2stroke, get yourself a copy of the DVD of the live of Kim Newcombe (Konig) "Love speed lost" (Pitsstop bookshop)
absolutly awsome!
