Dual camera install on the Bike

I'm actually thinking of making a kit that mounts on to the fuel tank flange. I have sizes few fuel tank lids (of my bikes) but I can make them custom for any tank. The swivel mount you can get from any camera shop, ebay etc

This is a prototype one I have used for a few years, its a bit under-engineered for now (it originally had a long 'tongue' coming out the front to move the camera forward but it vibrated too much so I cut it off with a saw)

I'm thinking of making nicer ones out of thicker aluminium. This one has elec tape wrapped around it to protect the tank and to try and help with the vibration. What I'm planning on doing is cutting a matching 1.5mm rubber pad.

The swivel mount is really handy, you can adjust it on the fly if you're brave/stupid too.

Yeah, I get em cut out by a machine at work. Just unbolt and bring us your tank cap / flange and I can make a bracket and spacer to suit

Charge a PSB'r for a baby little job? .... a carton will easy cover it. You'd have to get new bolts (your existing bolts will be too short) and the camera swivel mount too. And the camera.

I use a cheap Canon IXUS 80, but any little point-and-shoot type camera with a video mode can easily be used. To help clean up the sound I put a piece of soft foam over the whole thing with holes for the buttons, lense etc.

Heres some footage I recorded with this camera and a very similar rig (taken just moments after the above photo)

One day if others are interested I might try and sell some kits on the side

I really wasnt hurt - only small graze due to shitty gloves. Bike was mostly fine too (scuffed, fairing mounts, rearset was gone, otherwise ok)

The Gix 750 cap probably the same holes as my Suzuki SV. Is it 5 holes? (cap itself approx 78mm and 5-hole PCD approx 90mm)

I should have one lying around

on youtube search for 'spencerian' aka hawaii88,88hawaii, or 'mordeth13', and ashfoot. theyre all vloggers with ineteresting vid cam mounting tip videos.

The best one i like, is simply strapping your slim digicam to your mirror. You can point it backwards, or flip the mirror forwards. I have my camera in a plastic pocket for wind noise, and velcro sticky junk on it to the mirror, plus some elastic bands to hold it on. Held up fine. Your mirror is the perfect pivoting base too.

this is one of mine with the 'mirror cam'. the rest is a gopro.

Ive also modified a $6 gps holder from dealextreme.com to suit my motorcross helmet. The suction cup type holders can also be used on your fuel tank. just strap the camera with a safety strap incase the suction cup holder comes loose. You can gaffer tape the base down for extra goodness if you want.

    Good to hear you're OK.
Yes the cap is around 78mm and is 5 hole PCD 102mm according to my calculations, could be wrong.

    Yeh I lol'd too.

    I bought a kit of these guys - http://www.camzilla.com.au/

Suction par, handlebar mount, swivel kit etc etc, around $130 from memory, and its a great kit. My handlebar mount hasn't fallen off 'yet' although i need a more squat camera - the one i have now is too long and it vibrates too much - too hard to watch the fillums.

I bought a Gecko mount, which is great for cameras with a standard screwhole. Unfortunately, the OS ActionCam doesn't have one

Check out the Go Pro, best value for money. Looking at $330 for the camera, housing, various mounts, batteries and recharger. Took it out on my dirt-bike the other day, very easy to use and has a slight fish-eye lens that captures everything.
Much better than a dodgy camera setup with gaffa
