Take it to a bike mechanic and get it checked out and serviced while it is there.
It is your life you are playing with so a safe and roadworthy bike is a good starting point.

Yep, and you could tell him you are a new rider on PSB and ask for tips on what to check daily/weekly yourself.

It's good to be familiar with the guts of it, gives you a start if it doesn't run or runs roughly.
May the force be a considerable distance behind you.

yeah i would try charging the batt first.

If it got cobwebs then pretty fair to say it hasnt been ridden and charged. The brakes are hell easy to bleed. just start by cracking a beer and do it slowly and thoroughly.

Servicing is pretty easy. best thing to do is get a crate of beer and invite a friendly PSB'r from your local area. and learn.

I agree with people taking it mechanics if you cant do..... But try first....The best way to get to know your bike is to work on your bike..

Try first.... have fun and save yourself some money.
    Good luck

    What he said^^^

I did the back brakes on mine, brakes are pretty much the same. I'd examine the brake lines first though as mine were f**ked.

    EDIT: too late

get a manual mate,if you don't know what you're doing you could cause more damage, if your handy with the tools and have a manual then you have a head start.
There are two questions in life.
    1:Which way do I go
    2:Whats the lap record.
