Step 1: Leave out in rain overnight

Step 2: Wipe water off seat in morning

Step 3: Blow dry at speed on FWY

    Job done

LOL... i've all but given up on keeping my bike clean... it takes longer to do a proper job of cleaning it than it does to clean my car and it gets dirty again twice as quick.

I can't be bothered anymore... I just keep the chain clean

search youtube, but these vids give a general idea.

    get it warm
    up on stand
    old toothbrush
    old rag
    degreaser
slowly rotate and scrub with rag underneath
put a small piece of paper in between the rings at the start, just to keep track

Thanks for finding these and putting up. I think the main point as the guy says is it sets a benchmark for him working on his bike and spotting new leaks, plus it looks cleaner.

I cleaned all around the bottom of the engine, swingarm, wheels (as best as I could) after watching this videos a while ago.

After having all of that clean I was able to spot that the engine was leaking oil (shouldve change the oil plug gasket (facepalm)). So a the oil was going around and building up with the junk that was already there, speacially around the swingarm. Only spotted after i cleaned.

Shit reminds me to change the gasket.

    Cheek!

Seriously I can be a bit lazy when it comes to washing my bike, probably once a month though its up on the rear stand, chain cleaned, wheels scrubbed, burnt rubber scraped off everywhere that its been flung and after a good thourough wash a bit of a polish.

If Im really in a rush though and its filthy, like since I broke my ankle its to the nearest car wash, quick blast with the high pressure hose, bit of scrub then a spotless rinse, does the job for me.

these videos were great and a real inspiration! having just bought a 2nd hand bike its always nice to know that you only have YOUR ass sweat on it and no one elses imo

took me about 5 hours with my cousin just slowly cleaning. best thing about it was that i can tell after stripping it the bike is in great nick, which is an added bonus.

went and picked up supplies like a rear stand, HEAPS of WD-40, degreaser and a brush. Also grabbed a bunch of nice spiffy plated hex bolts, screws and washers to replace all the mismatched ones!

For those wanting a simple but effective wash:

Turtlewax tar and grime removed - rubber on your fairings and heavy duty grime literally wipes away with this, absolutely phenomenal at how easy shit wiped away with this.
Meguiars EZ clean Motorbike cleaner - just a spray on rinse off wash

And plenty of microfibre cloths. I'm happy with the finish - only took me half an hour, the bike doesn't glisten like a star but it's clean which is all I care about as it's just going to get dirty next time I ride it anyway.

I was too lazy to use the Meguiars rim cleaner today... maybe once I get bobbin holders for the rear stand. Also had Meguiars bike leather conditioner/cleaner but didn't use it as I just bought a brand new Triumph gel seat.
