How to install a speedohealer v4

Picked this up this week and as the sprockets are getting installed on friday i thought id better get it installed - so took some photos whilst doing the install.

firstly find a good spot for the unit - its water proof but should be kept away from areas that are often wet and get hot. You should have easy access so when it comes to calibration its easy to see the screen and press the buttons. Also keep in mind that the wires comming out of the unit shouldn't bend sharply as this will put pressure on the plugs.

What you need;cable ties (supplied), velcro (supplied), wire cutters (for cable ties), allen keys (for fairings), screw drivers

Speedohealer v4 (approx. $150 - includes remote button and Max speed recall - has 2 saved calibration settings so if you change wheels at the track its easy to recalibrate)

take bike apart - well not all of it - lift the tank (to locate sensor) and open up tail if this is where you want to install the unit. taking the fairings off will make tracing the wires though easier.

sticky taped velcro is supplied and sticks well - i also put a cable tie around the unit (check cable lengths before mounting the unit).

locate the speed sensor and follow it to the coupler/plug - usually around the front sprocket area and located under the tank (but sometimes runs from the front wheel depending on bike).

Wiring harness (bike specific) simply plugs into the coupler
<male coupler into female Heeler & male heeler into female coupler>

i put the remote button along side the clutch cable - not sure where i will put it permanently but that will do for now. You can use any press switch so you can make it look pretty if you dont like the one supplied.

Once installed you can test the unit is working by holding down the SEL button while turning the ignition on. then release the button and your dash should display a none zero number (135). then by spinning the rear tyre you should make the unit flash.

and of course you have to put a speedoheeler sticker somewhere...

the online calculator for calibration is here:
    SH Calculator
    Product Site
HealTech Electronics Ltd. - Makers of the SpeedoHealer, GIpro and X-TRE -
Bike Specific tutorials (no GSXR750 K6 but is very similar to the 1000)
SpeedoHealer - Electronic Speedometer and Odometer calibrator for motorcycles

i havent calibrated it yet but will add in those steps once the sprockets are on...

EDIT: using the on line calculator i used the original sprockets vs new sprockets to calculate factor.
    17/45 OEM
    16/44 New
    with tyre wear factor of 5 (0 = new, 9 = bald)
    = -9.8% conversion required.

Turn on ignition, hold both buttons on until "L" appears. Then if flashing its negative, Sel to change number, Set to accept and move to next figure (need to include leading '0'). When finished unit display nothing and your done. press remote button to view high speed - hold for 2 sec to clear (shown on dash). When ign is turned on unit displays correction factor.

    Good write up, well done.

The Speedo Healer V4 is generally plug and play for most bikes, and for those that don't have a specific harness plug, there is a universal harness available

I bought mine from Superbike Supply. Tim sent it very quickly. I think it took 2 days after ordering it. Very happy.

Simple to fit, just feed the wires and plug it in, then calibrate.
