How to straighten buckled spoked rims

It looks like I've buckled the front wheel on my chook chaser, it's a fairly minor buckle still rideable but it feels like a pogo stick at 60 and a really bad wheel balance at 80.
I figure I'm gonna start vibrating bolts off unless I fix it.

With the kids BMX bikes I hold a whiteboard marker at a static point against the fork, let the tip of the marker touch the rim and spin the rim around. From there I can see where the marker does and doesnt touch the rim. From there it's a case of losening the spoke on one side and tightening the other.

So I'm wondering if this will work on the chookie as well?

The motorbike rims are a lot thicker than the BMX so I'm not really sure if I'm just wasting my time and need to take it in to a bike shop.

    Any words of wisdom?

^^^ if you want a propper fix - i busted some spokes on my chook chaser and it got wobbly as hell. advice i got was to give it to a pro and went to spoke wheel services. they did a bloody good job, with thicker spoke's as well.

after that they were the only thing on the bike i couldnt break
