    Hyosung Headlight bulb replacement

Well after hours of screwing around trying to dig up stuff on the net and fiddling with the damn thing i managed to get it! Epically failing at both... BAM!!!

So whatta-ya-know. Theres no need to remove your fairings!

It took like 10 seconds to take out the low-beam bulb.
I worked from the left of the bike. kneeling beside it i stuck in a pair of long nose pliers and used em to get a grip on the spring clip. So here we go

****TURN YOUR IGNITION OFF**** but dont lock your steering.

    1) Remove dust cover. Its a stupid rubber cap that peels off.
    2) Dig out your old pair of long nose pliers.
    3) Using your long nose pliers get a grip on the Top loop. Push down towards the ground, then pull out toward the rear of the bike.
    4) Bottom loop. get a grip, push up towards the sky, then to the rear of the bike.
The Idea is to get the loops up and over the notches that they are resting in.
    5) So now the clip as been released the bulb will slide out EASY. if not something is wrong.
    6) Follow the wire going from the bulb. It connected to a terminal. Don't cut the wires. Just disconnected the terminal! (pulls apart easy).
    7) Feed it through the hole in the dust cap and there you have your old shitty bulb which would have taken hours to replace!
    8) Appologise to who ever is nearby who had to put up with your ripping the shit outta ya hyosung, spewing the words "why the fuck did i buy this piece of shit!"

IMPORTANT! Dont touch the glass of the new globes with your bare hands. use a tissue or something. Apparently your sweaty little fingers will do unspeakable damage to your new bulb!

I'll get back to you on how to put it back in. but should be the opposite once the bulb slides in. Probably best to put the wire through the dust cover first.

    Low- 12V - H3 : 55W

Same as most cars. Go to your nearest automotive superstore, open sundays

I owned a 2010 Hyo GT250R EFI and had no trouble with it what-so-ever!

I now own a 2011 Hyo GT250R EFI and ive put just over 7000 km on it and only had the kickstand switch be gay and now the light bulb blown today.

I've ridden the older hyos.. and seriously now, they handle like a fat chick on rags. They are NOTHING compared to the 2010 and 2011 models. (which go faster by the way ) They well and truly have come a long way, so dont be so quick to diss the latest models!

    Cheers,

Cheers mate! Literally there is nothing on the interwebz out how to change a light bulb! Even the owners manual says take it to your dealership, which is gay coz blown lightbulbs arent covered by warranty.

Haha its not so much how to change a light bulb. its more like. How to take off those frikin spring clips without pulling off your fairings! The lightbulb slides out easy.

Im putting in new philips crystal vision ultra bulbs. They're meant to be badass like HIDs but they;re not HIDs

Those clips really are a c**t to undo. The first time it took me over an hour as I only had my hands. The second time I already had all the fairing off and had pliers, ended up taking 5min to do the actual bulbs

Haha i know right, pissed me of so bad! If you work from the left with the handlebars in the right position you can reach in with some pliers and attack it real good!

I'm going to replace the hi-beam globe while im at it. Havent put em in yet.

Taking them out was only half the challange!

Haha funny you should mention that. I just put the new globed in this arvo. Wanted to stick in the philips, but ended up getting Narva Blue Power (which arent so blue) instead because of a local supply issue. These arent so cheap either, like $25 each.

    ALRIGHTY THEN!

INSERTING YOUR SHINY NEW GLOBES make sure it goes in the right hole

As mentioned before, dont touch the glass with your bare hands. Hold it by the metal part only. Still not too sure why, but the packet says so.

    Low-beam bulb insertion (haha).

    1) Move the spring clips all the way to the left, giving you more space to try and insert the bulb into its housing. Also make sure the wires are is between the spring clips.
    2) INSERT your new bulb, but be gentle. You wont get it first time. Dont smack it against anything as you try and get it into position. Be persistent.
    3) The new bulb has two notches cut into it. a curved one (which goes at the top) and a rectangle one (goes at the bottom).
    4) When you line up the bulb to slide it in the correct way, it wont feel like its in properly. If you bump the wire coming off the globe. Chances are the globe will slide out of position, so line it back up again. Its heaps annoying. Keep at it and you will get it.
    5) Push the spring clips back around to roughly where they are meant to be.
    6) Now you need to get the spring clips back into the notch from whence they came. I found a range of tools helped for this, from my fingers, to a long flat head screwdriver and long nose pliers. its a pain in the arse, but probably less stuffing around than taking off your fairings.
    7) If the bulb was in the correct position, and your spring clips are locked back into position, you can now play with that wire coming out of the bulb.
    8) Feed it through the tiny hole in the rubber dust cap and reconnect the terminal.
    9) MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS SWEET before turning your ignition on. Last thing you want is a short to destroy the electrics of your bike. Just check over it make sure you've done it right.
    10) If you turned the ignition on and the bulb doesnt come on. Rev your bike for a bit. I dont know what happend with mine, but it didnt come on even with the bike started. Crapped myself and wondered wtf i did wrong. Reved the bike and little and BAM she came on! If still no joy, there may be another electrical issue.. Maybe the headlight relay located in the fuse box...

tip: working from the left of your bike. constantly turn the handle bars from left to right to get a good view and enough space to work.
I also found myself reaching up from between the front forks to get a grip on the globe wire at times..

HIGH BEAM IS ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME. However the butt of the globe is like the male part of a terminal. Pull the female part off, undo the spring clips. It slides right out. Insert the bulb. The bulb terminal should b vertical... with the "sliced off part" facing the top right!

    Before:

after coming soon! Not too sure how to take pics of headlights haha!

Max, oil from your fingers creates hotspots on your globe possibly causing an early death of the new globe.
I had a 650 for a couple of years and thought the headlight sucked, a better globe may improve things somewhat.

I'll try and take some pics if I get a chance. I don't have the fairings on mine atm so it'll make it easier for the camera.
Till then have a read of this

Pull it out and have a look. H4 will have 3 pins coming out the back of it, H1 1 pin and H7 2 pins. Any car shop will sell them as theyre the same bulbs in car headlights.

    Picture for reference.
