    Great thread Desmo. Just to add, if your not too sure that you've drilled the hole square or will tap square, fit the mounting item to the item getting the new threaded insert then run the tap through to ensure that you tap the hole as square as possible. That way least the bolt/stud will go in.....

    A little addition, as I did a couple of these today...
    In case it wasn't initially obvious (as it wasn't for me), the thread insert goes in with the tang end first!

    I was thinking, "this can't be right... surely it ought to be the other way... well Jim did say they're a bit tricky to start... wait, with the spring coiled as it is, it would be so much easier if... ohhh damn, I am a stupid bastard."

    Must have repair kit for ZX10 seat bolt threads too[not so old bikes!?]... turns out when you give the bike / bike seat a work out , the original bolt hole threads threads appear to be make of CHEESE instead of magnesium

    Thanks to the 6mm X 1.0 mm helicoil kit I could still go for a ride on Sunday (may have swore at it first) but we found middle ground at 9000rpm in 3rd
