Putting a damned switch block back on (don't laugh!)

    This is on my CBR600.
My indicator switch was getting sticky as, so I took the two bolts out of the underside of the indicator block, sprayed the interior with a bit of RP7 to loosen it up a bit (successful) but I've just spent the last 90mins trying to get the f&*king block back on. Now, it's got a notch which goes into a hole on the underside of the bars to keep it in place - Check! Every time I tighten one of the bolts to its threshold, one side of the block pops out from its housing like it's been warped or something. I lost my cool a couple of times so right now I've given up and left a nice 3-4mm gap where the rear side of the block has popped out from its housing - Just wondering if there is a special trick to this???? Or should I give up and buy a new one cos this one's f*cked?

    Here's for clarity sake

Do the screws up equally, and before they tighten move/shake the switch. Something is not locating properly.

If you live close to Bullcreek area, would be glad to give you some assistance. Myself and 2 other motorcycle mechs are over here doing some bike maintenance before we go for a ride later tonight.

^ Ha! Good point, I just looked at the image and thought it looked like the throttle side for some reason.

Switch block halves I've worked on were often held open by the twist grip stop.

[edit, I see what's going on, he's rotated the block around and the switches are between the handlebar and the lever, makes it look like the right side at a glance.]

[edit edit, more bullshit from me, not rotated at all its the flash switch I was looking at]

Definately the locator knob. On the block it looks like a 5mm grub screw, just slots into the appropriately sized hole on the bar.

Edit: oops didn't realise this was days old, problem would have definately been fixed by now

For a quick and free 'lol' i caught up with deano when he had this drama (locating peg as many of you suggested)
After the 60 seconds it took to fix he was thinking of killing me for making it look too easy... lol sorry deano i had to fill them in.
An easy trap, most of us have probably had trouble remounting switchblocks at one time or another.
