Can someone tell me how to resize a photo that has been saved on my computer down to a more useable size? I have a few images of the new bike that I'd like to upload, but they are over the allowable size limit.

Check out my 1198s Corse SE in the garage: Desmosedici Ohlins forks, magnesium wheels, Ohlins TTX rear shock, Kyle racing link, alloy subframe, carbon fairing stay, ceramic coated Termi full systen, PCV, lots of carbon & titanium.
Open up paint, open the image, click resize, choose either a percentage or pixel width/height.

Is such a thing even possible?
Make sure you save as another name so you don't replace your high resolution image with the small one.

or host them on photobucket... it resized all my shots from the photoshoot automatically when i uploaded them.
has other useful stuff to edit your pics on there too, then simply copy the image tags into your post. easy peasy.
sorry for gramsma etc, just bashed this out on my phone.
That wastes your time (and internet usage if uploads are counted), if you upload a 2mb photo it will take longer than it will to resize it to 300kb, then upload. For most websites a 300kb photo is big enough.

Easiest way:
Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
Image Resizer
This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

.. even better choice, FastStone Photo Resizer - Powerful Image Converter/Resizer
.. and thats Racer # 193 to y'all; my fabulous sponsors (who all do good shit) are: Graeme Fleming IT Consultants, Vision Image, Pacific Safety Wear, Excess Power Equipment, Pro Photo Booth, Canning Vale Travel, Gryphon Garage Doors
.. and according to Sean'o: 'get the Kwaka (never thought i would say that!)'
Thanks guys, James' method seemed to work OK - the files resized down to an aceptable level, but I still can't get them to load up. I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

Download a program called irfanview. It's free, and brilliant. It converts big batches of files (and single files too) to whatever size, quality and format you choose. Very easy to use too... I'm not great with computer stuff but my partner works in IT and that's his software of choice.

I came here to drink milk and kick arse... And I'm all out of milk

i recommend paint.net if you're on win.
Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing
One I use for batch resizing is pliska. Works a treat, can overwrite of new name etc etc

Why not Adobe Photoshop? The Free Express version is available on the net

I'm not real computer literate and I found a site called www.shrinkpictures.com and it's an absolute piece of piss.
Great for making avatars, you may need to shrink it a couple of times, but it easy as.
