I received a "Speedohealer v4" that I ordered for my R1 last night. Have noticed a little discussion on the forum regarding installs etc, so, thought I would post it up.
Firstly, I got mine through E-Bay - www.superbikesupply.com.au - best price and received in 3 day by Express Post. Can't go wrong with these guys
Anyway, here goes with some info to install . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1- Secure your bike! I put mine on a rear stand so it was secure/level - easier to work on.
2- remove rear seat cowl/seat and then remove main seat. If you pull down the rear edge of the seat, you will see 2 socket head cap screws (6mm). Simply unscrew and lift the seat off.
3- remove factory tool kit - located by rubber strap between fuel tank and battery. You don't have to use any of these tools, but they need to be out the way.(Will explain.................)
4- remove plastic side panels. Each panel has 1 phillips head bolt holding it in place on each side of the tank near where you just removed the tool kit. Remove the bolt completely, as you have to slid the plastic panels forward a little to unhook them from a couple of hidden retainers. (if you leave the bolts in the holes - scratches @#$%!!! - BAD !)
5- Now follow the top of the frame forward and you will locate a silver socket head cap screw on each side of the tank (6mm) and remove. These hold the metal fuel tank in place via rubber mounts.
6- Below the steering yoke is another silver socket head cap screw (6mm). Remove this and it will allow the fuel tank to be lifted up from the front, on the rear hinge, to get access to the wiring required.
IMPORTANT - the tool kit was removed to allow the fuel tank to hinge properly. Before you lift the tank, place a clean rag over where the toolkit came from so if you over extend the tank when raising, you dont cause any scratches.

For safety, prop the tank up so you don't go squashing your fingers if you let it go. Also means you can use both hands. 2 hands the preferred option.
7- The plug you are looking for is black in colour and has 3 pins. It is located on the left side down near the main wiring harness and in a group of plugs surrounded by a factory rubber cover. (keeps dirt and water away from the connections) The 3 colours you are looking for, from the wiring loom side of the plug (ie right down into the rubber sheath) are Blue, White/Yellow and Black/Blue. To disconnect factory plug, you need to push in a little locking clip. Hard to explain but when you see it you will know.

To check that you have the right plug - turn on ignition and spin rear wheel. Speedo should show a value. Obviously put a little effort into the spinning of the wheel. Turn off ignition. Then unplug, turn on ignition and spin the rear wheel by hand. Speedo should remain on "0". Then plug in both sides of the Speedohealer cable and do same again - should be able to get the speedo to show a speed just like before you had messed with it.
8- The "Highest Speed Recall Toggle" can be located where ever you like to put it. Obviously, it needs to be fairly easy to access if you are going to use it. The wires are quite thin, so you need to be carefull not to run it too close to anything that willget really hot OR possibly pinch the wire over time. I found that it fits really neatly taped to the mirror and windscreen holding bracket.

9- Run the plug n play wires, along with the factory wiring back through and along side the left side of the bike all the way through to the rear storage area under pillion seat. You will find the Speedohealer, with wiring attached, will fit really neatly without having to be stuck, tied, velcro'd into place - refer pic

Almost done.
10- Watch the little display on the Speedohealer and turn ignition on. Should flash "A" "0", which means it is good to go and no calibration has been set.
11- Go for a ride and work out what your speedo reading is when you are ACTUALLY TRAVELLING AT 100km/h. I did this by straping my Navman to my right arm. When Navman said I was doing 100km/h, the speedo indicated 114km/h. (I have gone down 1 tooth on front sprocket - for your info)
12- Now easiest way, log onto the website - www.x-tre.net/ - click on "Speedohealer", then "online Calculator"
My indicated value was 114 (speedo) when actual was 100 (Navman) - calibration value ends up being -12.3%
Almost done.............................................. .....
13- Program your Speedohealer by following the instructions given..............and..............hey presto. Job done.
NOW.................. Put all your shit away and enjoy your newly calibrated toy !!
Hope I have not created too much confusion.
