Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate the responses. Unfortunately due to having a young family I don't get out as much as I'd like to. Maintaining the RG isn't as daunting as you'd think. I have a service manual and carb balancing is done by lining up dots punched into the slides. For a 2-stroke it has been fairly reliable. Have had my share of frustrations, like the blocked tank breather! That almost made me sell the RG! Story for another time.
The other thing they don't like is too much cruising! They foul plugs when run too slowly.....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Look, for a standard lightweight 2-stroke the ride is still amazing, when the powerband kicks in. But not as fearsome as some would suggest. Remember this bike only makes around 75-80bhp as standard!
She's been to a few trackdays!
Roland's bike belonged to a chap called Graham Sigley who raced proper RGB500's from the late 70's and early 80's. He sold it to Roland who restored it. Graham moved to Exmouth!
Being new'ish to the forum I'm not entirely sure how it all works. Someone has asked me if the CBR rims would be suitable for an F4I model. I'm not sure how to reply to that. But I do know that the '92 rims are the multi-spoke versions and the rear is narrower than the F4I rim. The rear is only a 4.5" wide, suitable for a 160 section tyre. The front runs a speedo drive and the F4I had long since dropepd that for a gearbox driven unit![/b]
