i was in the middle of a group of ~50 -100 bikes that missed the right hander at grantham and ended up going pearson (western side of lake monger, and then along scab beach road

i didnt know where i was going and assumed the ~30 bikes infront of me did

got there in the end which i guess is all that matters

I was in that group too. Was a little bit of a shambles for the simple reason that you tend to just follow the bikes in front of you and when they dont know where we're going, thats when we missed it. But yeah, we took a big short cut and got there anyway so thats the main thing.

Another thing that throws out the planning is when you get heaps of bikes who clearly dont know how to ride in a big group. There was lots of overtaking and quite a bit of speeding, which doesnt really work too well on a ride of that scale.

Well I was one of the ride marshalls on the event and I stopped to help a guy move his GS500 off the road because his front brake jammed on.

I was helped by the TEG car so was pretty much near the back when I started off again and was somewhat dismayed to discover that everyone was going straight on instead of right at Grantham. The cops were supposed to be directing traffic at that junction but for some reason they weren't there.

I tried to get a group to follow me on to the freeway at Hutton Street but the cops decided they were going to head straight down Scarborough Beach Road, so a lot of people followed them instead.

Still we all got there eventually

Yup, I was at the back of that group and couldnt do a lot from behind. I think we could definitely improve that next year by having someone at any obvious intersection (like the Grantham St, where bikes obviously lost sight of the bikes in front of them, not sure how that happened, but it did). With the number of bikes involved, a couple of people for a couple of corners isnt a lot to ask. Id volunteer for the job. They might not be needed again but "just in case" have someone with a sign - MAD Ride bikes and an arrow. Or even some A frame corflute signs.
But yeah we all got there in the end

People were waiting at granthem to turn right, But got impatient and went straight instead.
I went straight and did a youee at the roundabout at the and, but as I was in a yellow vest nobody followed me and went on there merry way.
I caught up to the back of the pack just as the Police were closing down the road blocks.

Twas a good day anyway (even if the ride was lonely)
