2010 MADride marshals first practice ride Sat 9/10/10 @ 1pm

Firstly, Welcome to your very own little part of the forum, feel free to read some of the discussions from previous years.

Obviously last years ride and this years ride are 2 totally different animals, but there are the same underlying concerns and challenges, the aim is for everyone who joins us on this ride to get to the end safely and to enjoy the experience so that they will want to do it again next year.

With that in mind, we are having the first of the practice runs on Saturday 9/10/10 at 1 pm.

Meet point is the carpark of Farrall Oval (Jecks Place, Stratton), please get there with enough fuel to reach Toodyay. We will have a brief look at the oval before we set off, just to get a feel for the place.

This run will be at MADride pace, ie speed limit, as such it is both 250 and pillion friendly.

I look forward to meeting you all there, but don't panic if you are unable to do this ride, there will be a few more, at assorted times and days ( love you big time Karen ) so hopefully we can accommodate all of you at least once.

If you have any questions or suggestions in regards to the ride, please don't hesitate to add them to this thread.

The big thing this year is, will the ride be split up into groups like the past couple of years, or one big ride?

The groups makes it easier on other traffic, but being part of a huge group is something indescribable.

The feeling I got at the initial meeting with the police this year was that we were going to be allowed to have one huge group, we would possibly have to look at a small group at the rear for scooters, vintage bikes and those riders who are not confident with riding at the open road speed limits.

There are further discussions coming up in the next fortnight, and I will be trying my best to achieve the above setup.

I will not be able to make this one myself. I will be going over to Malaysia to try my luck at getting the MAD Bike signed again this year. No promises but will see how I go.

I am currently bikeless so the plan for me was to help out on the oval only I dont think i will have 2 wheels sorted for the ride

If you need someone to do some runs during working hours for those not able to make weekends (I work week on, week off) I will be able to help too - once I've ridden the route.

We have a Sunday morning practice pencilled on the diary , will announce dates when it becomes a definite.

Karen is threatening to do Thursday / Friday ride/s, and will no doubt post up dates and times when she can.

Worst comes to worst, you work just around the corner from me, we could possibly arrange something for after work.

As in previous years, we will attempt to make it possible for everyone interested to get at least one practice session.

I can put the pillion pegs back on if someone needs a pillion there and back from Perth or surrounding area/s. Usual rules apply- no two wangs. I don't make the rules, I just abide by them

Just in case any of you need petrol, there's a Caltex on the corner of Toodyay Road & Lewis Jones Cross (the turn off) and a further petrol station (budget I think) at the Stratton shops just on the corner.

FYI Jecks Place is at the rear of Stratton Shops.
