Thumbs down City of Perth (Paid motorcycle parking?)

    Hi,
Apparently City of Perth (read shitty of perth)
has introduced paid motorcycle parking (just in time)
for Motorcycle Show and MAD ride??

SEE: Motorcycle, Scooter and Moped Parking: City of Perth

Can someone clarify where to park and if 2000-3000 riders turn up
at Motorcycle show, is there any arrangements with City of Perth
(only 70 motorcycle bays in Converntion Centre carpark?)

    Pete

The dates on that site say parking fees are being introduced from 1 July, not sure if that really makes it just in time for the Motorcycle show.

There will be free parking on the plaza level at the show again (took a while to find it on the site, its under entertainment, rather than visitor information)

Perth Motorcycle and Scooter Show -

Scroll about halfway down the entertainment section and you can see where it says free parking. Hope this helps.

it does say of the CPP site somewhere that the old style coin operated meters will be installed at bike bays.. so no need to show ticket...

but this will take awhile to implement I hope

Wonder if this means that the car parking across 5 bike bays gets 5 parking fines now.

Yeh for motorcyles it will be 33% - 50% off car parking prices
For convention centre thats $1.40 per hour (one third of $4.20)

So I ride in all weathers on a bike so I get cheap fuel and normally free parking etc

However this means if I am in the city for a few hours I will have paid the cost of a tank of fuel... (car drivers dont pay that much... in comparison)

Dunno how they think they will attract motorbikes into the city with this policy?

    P :-)

I believe that bike bays use parking meters rather than a ticket system to solve this.

If you read a bit more into the original link to the parking fees, some will have parking metres, a couple you get a ticket at the boom gate, then pay at the kiosk before leaving, convention centre has its own motorcycle friendly boom gate.

Its all in the linky posted in the first post, but people still have to just guess?

Response to original question - Yes we have arranged for MAD ride participants to have their own parking area.

There are lots of places around there you could chain your bike up at. I think the best thing about 'paid' parking where there is 24/7 video cameras is the security. I wouldn't pay to leave my bike in an unguarded parking lot... that's just stupid.

Damn I love some of the benefits of a road/trail sometimes. If your not speeding or going over 100km/h they can be really handy. (Park in a bush with a camo cover) LOL

    Oooops
    I couldn't help it.
I had to send them an email telling them how stupid they are.
Thanks to Dub's link I found the MOTORCYCLE_PARKING_GUIDELINES for NSW so I linked them in the email as well.
I expect nothing useful from them, but I had fun doing it.

    Oh dear.
Thread regeneration in the same fortnight.

The CPP info is old, dated 23rd April.
Since the last update, not only the State Govt levy increase for motorcycle bays, but the entire levy for m/c bays is to be abolished.
    MRAWA :: News

Hopefully the CoP is reacting to this shortly.

Mmmmm pls see this email dated 24th August from CoP
so the paid parking for motorcycles hasnt been repealed at all...

"Thank you for contacting the City of Perth Parking with your comments regarding paid motor cycle parking.

CPP is aware of the issues associated with trying to secure a ticket on a motor cycle, consequently, wherever motor cycle parking is fee paying, a parking meter has been installed for the relevant bays. Full information is available on the City's web site, at Motorcycle, Scooter and Moped Parking: City of Perth where information is available about the individual car parks, as well as kerbside parking."

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact this office.

You'll still have to pay fees in parking complexes, as currently operates (but now at 33% rate instead of 50%).

    Kerbside is still free.

You would think that with the Mayor making the papers as a scooter rider, we would have someone onside?

We're doing them a favour by not clogging up their parking areas. We should be getting free parking!
    Please, call me Flash...
