Fund-raising plates always remain the property of the Department.
Fund-raising plates must be attached to a currently registered Western Australian motor vehicle, or they will be stored in safe custody at the nearest Licensing Centre to the purchaser.
Fundraising plates cannot be attached to a taxi, omnibus or any other vehicle that requires specific identifying number plates allocated by the Department.
Fundraising plates cannot be attached to mopeds or motorcycles.
Plates not attached to a Western Australian licensed vehicle will be stored by a licensing centre and a storage fee for each year or part thereof will be charged to the owner of the 'Right to Display' certificate.
Fundraising plates cannot contain a logo and numeric characters only.
Can't get fund raising plates for bikes..... which sucks... Only way to do it is get them through the custom number plates method. So you can have MAD-XXX but no reconigition of what MAD is.....

Aceshigh: it can be done, look at the Ulysees club.

In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

I'd be interested, i have a couple of bikes i'd like custom/limited run plates for and no real ideas so a charity or club plate would be the perfect excuse maybe an email or letter to ulysses club admin for a bit of info on the process, then hit MAD admin up with the idea, with all the members on here shouldn't be too hard to get enough interest for a 100 plate or even 1000 plate run should still be able to keep the price reasonable with a good cut going to MAD. If i can buy $100 worth of tickets in the raffle i can put a few hundred into a plate at least i get something for it

I spoke to the DPI about this some time ago. They said they weren't available for bikes and so I questioned how the Ulysses club had them and then they said they might be available for bikes.
It was reassuring that the DPI don't know what their own policies are..

Fundraiser plates don't go on motorcycles, corporate plates could, though. You'd have to organise something around this.

I just had a look at the prices... You'd be looking at $400+ a plate unless you could get over 500 people ordering them, in which case the total would about $300 each. Then there's still be further issues... I'd probably shelve this one due to lack of financial viability...

As for why you didn't get useful information, browncow, it's a specialised section most staff have nothing to do with that deals with those orders, so it isn't really surprising there are going to be people with NFI about them...

Yeah Jamathi, a much better idea. But not really viable for a bike.

You could put them on the front of the bike.

I'd be interested in MAD plates, as it's a bit hard to support MAD any other way from down here

Or have your own plate (example: mine is ABC-123) with the PSB/MAD logo made up. I'd be looking into the legalities of plates, but I thought as long as it displayed your plate number its fine?

There was squat in the following:

    ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1974 - SECT 15
Australian Land Transport Development Act 1998
    Interstate Road Transport Act 1985
    Motor Vehicles Standards Act 1989

So far I've found Legislation on the provision of where a plate should be ( http://www.comlaw.gov.au/ComLaw/Legislation/LegislativeInstrument1.nsf/0/02B470EABFC3734CCA2571E8001FDBFC/$file/ADR6100FINALFRLI.pdf )

I think I found the answer on making your own plates:
    From: http://www.comlaw.gov.au/ComLaw/Legi...2007C00044.pdf

    22 Affixing of registration plates

    (3) The owner of a registered motor vehicle or trailer shall not:
    (a) cause or allow a registration plate issued under regulation
16 or 23 in respect of the motor vehicle or trailer to be
affixed to another motor vehicle or trailer; or
    (b) cause or allow:
    (i) a copy, reproduction or facsimile of a registration
plate issued under regulation 16 or 23 in respect of
the motor vehicle or trailer or in respect of another
    motor vehicle or trailer; or

(ii) a registration plate issued under regulation 16 or 23
    in respect of another motor vehicle or trailer;
to be affixed to the first-mentioned motor vehicle or
    trailer.

    Penalty: 5 penalty units.
    (4) An offence against subregulation (1), (2) or (3) is an offence of
strict liability. (It then references to the criminal code blah blah..)
That took a while to find Looking up Legislation on a Friday? I need a drink.

In other words you can't copy a plate (or make a copy of a plate) and fix it to your vehicle, whether or not it is the same plate number. It has to be the original plate. At least I've closed off one avenue for you Browncow

Lets put it this way: what percentage of posts on PSB are made to correct or complain about spelling, punctuation, or grammar in posts?

I suspect that you'll find that the demand is high, but the supply is demonstrably and frustratingly low.

Given Licensing Centre staff have nothing to do with the production of these plates, and to order them you have to pay a lot of money, go through an approval process select the logo design... Actually, never mind, I'm sure it'll work. You lead.

i dunno if it would work i really doubt it would, 1 reason coz licensing centre is run by government and the government dislikes us bikers, and the amount of money it might cost for custom plates i might save up some money and get some custom psb plates in a few months though

Thanks to all for your thoughts and suggestions here to assist MAD.

We will not be doing Fundraiser Registration plates in the foreseeable future for a range of different reasons.

We really appreciate your thoughts and efforts.

Stay tuned in this section for announcements regarding MAD 2010.
