    MAD 2009 Update

Just a quick one to let you know whats going on with MAD this year.

The MAD ride will take place on Sunday the 13th of September leaving at 10:00am, this year we are returning to our normal start point on the oval at Shenton Park with the destination being the Perth Motorcycle and Scooter show. We have planned what we believe will be a little more interesting ride than previous years which will see us head down the coast via Fremantle, returning to the city.

We are in the process of confirming the minor details of the ride which will be made available over the next couple of weeks.

The 2009 MAD raffle bike is also well on its way to being completed, the bike is under very tight wraps and will be unveiled at the show, with the support of a number of PSB members and associated businesses we believe it will be the most impressive custom motorcycle MAD has produced to date.

Tickets for the raffle will go on sale on Friday the 11th September when the bike is unveiled.

Both MAD and PSB will have a great presence at the show and I encourage you all to make it down there.

I've got a few friends with scooters who'd probably be interested in coming along to this. I'm assuming that it'll be friendly enough for them?

Uisce, for sure, scooters, choppers, cruisers, street bikes, trikes... whatever.

There will be no freeway sections so scooters and the like are fine.

    Sounds great can't wait.

Can anyone give us some details on the MAD ride - such as what MAD stands for how much it cost to ride in it and so on and so forth.

Stands for Making a Difference. Website is here.

If I'm recalling correctly, it was a $10 donation per rider, and a gold coin donation per pillion - but I think that was 2 years ago when the ride terminated in its own little festival down at Scarborough beach. I'd say this one will somehow incorporate the ride donation into the admittance fee (or vice versa) for the Bike show at the Convention centre.

Spuddysnogger in the quote below covers some info, MAD stands for the Making A Difference ride. MAD is a charitable organisation whose main focus is to raise and donate funds for the treatment of, and research into, spinal injuries. The main beneficiaries are Ward 11 at Shenton Park Hospital and the REDS foundation for spinal injury research.

This year the ride will set you back $20, and yes it does include admittance to the Motorcycle and Scooter show ( which is usually $15 by itself ).

Thanks for that guzziboy sounds like a a worthy cause and good fun too so count me in with bells on!!!

I missed on Batista Bash at Coastals MCC when the held the fundraiser for Matt after his tragic accident at barbs so this year I will be riding to make up for that seens as the MAD ride is for the same cause but on a larger scale.

Will there be some one on the day to collect cash donations, or can I send a donation into someone?
