MAD Jump 2008 is go!

Lets go skydiving to raise money for MAD again!

When: Saturday August 30th 2008
Where: York, WA. Skydive Express

The crew from Skydive Express will be donating $100 per AFF1 Solo Jump or 14,000ft Tandem Jump to MAD!
(And you get a $100 tax receipt.)

All registrations and deposits will be handled directly thru Skydive Express.
If you have any questions regarding the event it would be best to contact them directly as I am going to be away for about the next 3 months.

Also, I hate to bring it up, but if I don't someone else will.
Skydive Express got lot of sensationalist media attention recently on some deaths that have occured in the sport over the years.
As the media does, they presented the public with about 5% of the facts (using the word facts very loosely) of one side of the story.
(We've lost friends at barbagallo, on country runs and in the city, but the media can't beat up a attention grabbing story from that.)
I would not organise an event like this if I didn't feel that the risks were extremely well managed and pale into comparison with the reward.
If you have any conerns as a result of the media feel free to call Skydive Express and discuss them.
Or swing by the DZ on a country run and check the place out for yourself and make your own informed assessment.

That said, I hope you decide to take the plunge, and you never know, I might even get to jump with you!

AFF is a lot of work, although that being said we lost two formerly prominent members who did the AFF to a new and expensive hobby after MAD Jump I '07

Tandem is great for a taste, I had a great instructor who let me have a play with steering the canopy on the way down and woulda done a few more things if my arm had not come out of plaster 2 days before my jump .

downside is wont know till about a week before.
Working from the Wickham skydivers club this week. Looks like much fun. If i get a down day I'll be doing a tandem up here before we move on.

Good question, I think i could get about 4-5 of my mate's to jump as well if we can bring in the public as well.
