    MAD ride question thread

As mentioned by myself in the 2nd practice ride thread, Here is a place that you can ask any questions you may have regarding the route or the management of the ride.

Any queries that you have, just ask and someone from the committee will hopefully have an answer for you.

Likewise, any sensible suggestions can be addressed in the same manner.

Is it correct that there will be NO police help with traffic?
I saw a post about needing a traffic controller, anything we need to know about there?
Will we at least have a slip-lane setup in cones to get us out of Shents?

I put Nath onto a mate of mine (Rod) that is happy to help out. He is one of the owners of ATM traffic management, i spoke to Rod in regards of having road/lane closure at shents and also at the finish, but Nath would have spoke to him by now im sure.

Can I have only Hawt blonde 24 year old chicks in my group?

Seriously though - are the marshalls to lead a group along the route, then into the esplanade, or are we lining the route to direct traffic with such tools as pointed fingers and gestures?

The Marshalls lead/follow and - if we have enough - maybe sit in the middle of each group.
    You will be riding.
We MAY have some small signs at each turn (not really many this year), but that is why we have practise rides, so you know the way.

    Ben,
Correct, no official Police help this year. Thier own budget restrictions, etc, etc, lack of manpower, etc..

We have some coreflute signs we will be using at the major corners, the same as we used last year. There are really only four turns in the ride, if you don't count going around the park at the Esplanade end-and these are all left hand turns ( Cambridge st, West Coast Hwy, Tydeman rd and Queen Victoria st ) Basically, if you don't see a sign it is straight ahead.

Thanks Breyton but I would prefer the brunettes mate
And Harro if we have 100 hawt 24 year olds on the ride then I think I could share them with ya

On topic now: Police are not participating but you would be a fool to believe they won't have some kind of presence along the route.

As marshalls you will be riding and looking after a group of approximately 100 bikes - There will be a lead, a TEC and (hopefully) 2 extras per group. The idea is that the extras can take lead and set the pace if the group is split by traffic &/or lights so we don't get races to catch up to the pack. Will look at trialling this on the next practice run I attend to see how it goes.

By crazy, do you mean female?

Just wondering, are we going to get any specific direction before the day, or just when we arrive? For me that means marshalling duties, and also the fact that I've agreed to be at or near the MAD stand for most of the weekend.

Please try to get along to a practice ride, Karen is doing one Tuesday night, I am doing one on Sunday Morning, and I am not sure if there are going to be any through next week-I can't do any.

We going to get badges, lanyards or soemthing or do we have to pay for the days we gain access?

Still have to pay mate. The organisers of the bike show are donating a share of the proceeds from all MAD ride attendees to MAD which is pretty huge plus giving us the cloak room. We can't really expect them to give out more than that.
