Just wondering (sorry I didnt make last years ride), but what about the patients in Shents? How do they fit into the day? Do they miss out on all the fun or do we have a band of volunteers that'll get them out and about with the bikes/crowd? If they cant come to us, do we have a stack of volunteers to take the time to spread the love and go visit them in Shents?

A few people in wheelchairs came out last year to watch, from the building on the entrance side of the grassed area.

My dad was a patient in the rehab section till today. He was planning to shuffle down to check us all out on Sunday but after 7 months in hospital (SCG & Shents) he got the green light to go home late this week... and couldn't get out the door quick enough

Xphread is our Shents liason extraordinare. He's sorted lots of stuff for the day. SOme of those who can will be going on the ride, some will be watching and the rest, well the whole ride is for the rest, the poor buggers who are stuck in there with next to no mobility at all.

Shents is not a happy place, but hopefully we can bring a little comfort to the people stuck there.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

    ^^^WHS

We have discussed it a little and this year we hope to spread that bit of cheer over more than one day.

We are hoping to setup some BBQ days at shents where those who want can come down, help cook some grub, mingle and chat and give the poor buggers a break from the hospital food and talking to the walls!

That way we might also get a better idea of the current needs are from the patients at any one time.

for thinking of others. Thats what this day is about.

Those of who can venture out of their wards do.......the patients are well aware of what the day is all about, We welcome any patients of course and welcome them with cheer - afterall the day is about them.
This is why we welome the media. The media is our great communication tool to those of the Shenton Park Hospital to liaise what is going on. But in sayin this, the committee members do a fantastic job in also communicatiing to the patients on the outcome of the day.
The MAD Committee keep them in the loop
