What you liked/Disliked about the 2009 MAD Ride

Some constructive feedback if you wouldn't mind..

What we did well, what you liked, what you disliked, what you would like to see in 2010..

Why you came and won't come again...

Why you didn't come and would if we changed something..

    Tell me your thoughts..

    Mine are;

    - Meet a little later than 8am Sunday morning
    - Police escort to maintain better groups
    - Better weather

: Definatley a little later maybe just an hour or so
:Maybe a month or so later (i know this one had to tie in with the show) but if it's too late and a scorcher peep's wont show either.
:End the ride on a park somewhere, with our own kiddie friendly activities (ie wet Tshirt comp) and maybe a show and shine of some sort.
    :Longer ride.

Wasn't on the ride per se, however was at the finish point watching them all roll in.

I think the final part of the route which had 4 separate sets of lines running around the major park, was fantastic.

From a logistical point of view, it ensured the bikes came in staggered, and gave enough time for bikes to enter the park without a long queue from slowing to park the bikes.

It was my first time on one of these rides, so, I think everything was done and managed well. I liked everything, especially seeing so many bikes together. I would like to see more bikes on the ride next year.

Why you came and will come again...
To Make a Difference. Honestley speaking, riding and PSB are both a very significant part of my life and I would like to offer any help possible. I'm sure I will attend a lot more of these rides in future.

Didn't go, just too many options for the weekends, but glad there was good turnout for MAD. I went to Bike Show on Friday, the MRA 'Awareness Ride' Saturday, and Ulysses 'Memorial Ride' Sunday - good so many things on, but with all on the same weekend means you just can't do all.

Nath, I thought it was a brilliant day and extremely well organised (right down to not having to remember my own sidestand puck).

Yeah a police escort would have allowed larger groups which is something I like but as stated the staggering allowed for the organisation to carry right through to the end with everyone entering the parking area comfortably without causing too much disruption to Joe Public.

I will definately be attending these in future and hopefully will be able to play a role in assisting in some way.

    Hats off to you guys.

Length was good. Any longer and it might get a bit boring/tedious at slow speeds.

I wouldn't like to see it any later in the year as riding slow in the heat can get damn uncomfortable.

The show finish point was good as it gave people something to do after the ride.

Police escort? Dunno. Yes it makes the groups larger but also means that the ride will go slower and be harder on the logistical side.

Agree with the later start time, even 1/2 an hour would make a difference when you get a lot of groups meeting up at various places to ride in together. Wouldn't go any more than an hour later though.

I thought it was the best of the last three that I've been on.

At first I was disappointed with the smaller groups and no police escort but it did make for a more relaxed ride and better (quicker) parking at the receival point.

The start time was fine by me. I arrived at 8:30 and got to watch all the bikes roll in. Maybe something else to do at the meet point but not really essential as that many bikes to look at and drool over will always keep my interest.

Police escort? Really, what for? I think we have shown we don't need them and it can be done without them. Did they show up for this ride at all?

Everything else was good but it could have been a little warmer.

Definitely Police escort to allow bigger groups.

We get to see bigger groups on LNR's.

Although I didn't partake in the ride itself, my Dad did. He really enjoyed the way things flowed so well and arrived at the destination a happy rider.
From photography pov the staggering also helped as we could shoot most bikes on the move as nobody felt pressured to bunch up.

A 9am start is as early as you'd want on a Sunday, thanks guys.

As in the past, I'm sure everyone enjoyed the fact that a "stand puck" was supplied to allow for grass parking. I still have mine from a couple of years back.

And Bunyack needs to wear a "beenie" not a "bikinibeenie". I got the fright of my life when we caught up in the show, I thought they were letting the homeless in.

Am I correct in assuming there wasn't a single incident on the road ? Thats pretty awesome considering the amount of hoons ... errrr bikers on one ride.

Great effort all round guys, the fine tuning is really showing through now.

Agree with the bigger groups, having one big mob would be awesome.

Loved walking around shenton park checking out all the bikes that people owned.

Was also great to hop on a ton of big bikes and get an idea of the size n weight of them.
When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be AWESOME instead. True story.

Overall it was great, and any criticism I have pales in comparison to that.

I did think bigger groups would have been cool, like last year when all I could see ahead or behind me was a huge stream of bikes and the surprised faces of cagers.

The more urban route and lack of escort probably makes larger groups or a constant flow much more difficult though.

Spot on. In 2007 we had the ride as one big (over 2000) group. Lots of people complained that this slowed down the ride too much, and other road users complained aslo, we had cars stuck in side streets for almost an hour at some places while the ride went past.

It is a juggling act, between having that big ride feel, and making things run smoothly without pissing people off. Given that we had zero police assistance this year, large groups would have been even more difficult.

Thanks for your input everyone, the only way we can make it better for you is if you tell us what you think

I am a little bit unsure on this one, remember what a cluster fuck it was the last time they escorted the ride from Shents to Scarbs ?

It would, however, be great to have one large group

From my viewpoint, the ride went smoothly, with no incident either on the road or on the wet ovals, this makes me a happy dwarf.

    Why did I giggle?

I thought that the ride was very well organised..

From a marshal's point of view (on a small bike mind you ) it was fustrating watching people overtake me and cars.. further breaking up the group... by the end of it the TEC and I swapped places...

Cloak room seemed to have a few small issues with retrieving some gear.. maybe next year EVERYONE puts their stuff through the front window and gives the gold coin...

Also Red-bull girls should be less stuck up.. and should give you more then one can of that sweet sweet gooey juice...

I really wouldn't change a thing. I think the start time is great, the starting place is great, and from all accounts the route was great (I was taking photos, so I didn't get to ride it). If there's no MC show next year (I think they're held every 2 years), then maybe a park somewhere with displays etc. as in the 2007 ride. Maybe PSB can take over the MC show and run it each year!
