* Lightweight forged pistons five grams lighter than ZX-6R
* Longer rod and shorter stroke produce high revs required for race track use and optimum power
* Engine delivers increased performance, especially in high rpm range
* Plated, all-aluminum cylinder has 5mm shorter skirts for reduced weight and the water passage ways have been reshaped for improved cooling performance
* Outer surface of cam-chain tunnel curved, reducing vibration, engine noise and reducing cylinder weight
* Engine now lighter, more compact, revs higher and produces more power
Redesigned Crankcase
* New crankcase lighter and more rigid, allowing piston oil jets to be positioned closer to pistons
* Engine oil pan capacity reduced providing a more compact design
# New transmission uses closer ratios for gears three and up, for improved track performance
# Clutch back-torque limiter helps prevent wheel hop during corner entry
# Cam shape for shift drum has been modified for improved shifting performance
# Shift lever ratio changed providing smooth and easy shifting
