As long as they have fixed the problem i dont see why its an issue. Just query them about it. Ask questions.
Yeah i have to agree with having a mechanic do a quick check on the bike before you purchase it.. I ve spoken to Gavin from Mobile Motorcycle Medic 0417945557 he's great...
How much do they charge just to check the motorcycle?
Not as much as it will cost you for him to fix (the useless lemon)
Hey guys, great advice.
I'm about to take a look at a track/race bike (well, this Saturday) and didn't see an answer to The Nurse's question.
I do understand that you would check most of the relevant items listed above, however, if it's unregistered, how would you suggest we acheive performance? (risk)
I'll post the ad and see if anybody recognise's it and if you could, please provide a little feedback on it, it would be greatly appreciated.
A fantastic and very detailed guide to evaluating used motorcyles can be found HERE![]()
These are my principles... if you don't like them I have others.
Also check if the bike is from auctions and if its been damage b4!![]()

Bought a second hand bike recently. In the market for a new one, but was seduced by a low mileage 10yo model, as new condition, over the phone. It was being sold by a mate I know well, on behalf of another who was overseas. This in itself isn't all good. Mate thinks its done 30k. When it arrives, it has 47k on the clock. This was way too much mileage, but I took it for a ride, and it rode like new. It was good, and in fantastic condition. I haggled another 30% off the price, to reflect the mileage, and felt I had a bargain, since the equivalent new were well over twice the price.
I took it for a long ride, 500ks. At first I was surprised when the fuel light came on, when according to the odometer I should have only used half a tank. Faulty light I guessed. I carried on quite a way, and stopped for fuel, only to find I must have only had half a cupful left, judging by the amount she took.
Then it dawned on me. The bike had had only one owner, but he had bought it in the UK. He had changed the speedo face to kilometres, but the odometer was still reading miles. It had done closer to 80,000ks. And owner hadn't told the guy that sold it on his behalf.
Its still a good bike, and the price, even so, was fair. But there was no F***ing way I'd have bought it with those miles on it.
Buyer beware.
