Yamaha 1973 TX 500 project
I have this in pieces, and got it that way so cannot guarantee whether it is complete. See pics (seat not included)
Motor is apart
Missing exhausts, seat, switchblocks, and brake master cylinder
Fork tubes are rusty, twin front disc legs appear reasonable
Headight is missing, but shell and ears are with the bike
good Tank (twin taps) and side covers
frame and swingarm appears straight
decent wheels (front single disc and rear drum)
gauges are excellent, and key is supplied for tank and ignition
Factory workshop manual in mint condition.
Guards have some surface rust, but would be restorable or a good basis for chopping.
I've been holding this for a while, with the thought of lobbing in a later XS 500 motor, or if you have the skill a donor large bore single could make a great cafe alternative.
Just PM with any queries.

First dibs. Do you know if the engine ran beforehand?

I'm not sure why the engine stopped. There are mixed reviews of these early motors, and I have heard that they can crack the head between the plug and valve seats. This motor does appear to have some cracking in that area, however whoever pulled the motor apart also cut the cam chain with a cutting disc, meaning that there could also be some foreign matter downstairs as well. Best to think of the motor as a potential solid base for a good coffee table.
Also should have mentioned that the main wiring harness and coils are also intact and come with the bike. If you're still interest Bushie just let me know.

Yeah, remember the first year TX engines had balancing problems, let me do a bit of research first and get back to you, I appreciate your honesty
Edit: I also assume you have all the nuts and bolts etc with it?

I can't vouch for all the engine internal fixings, however I have kept the rest of the studs etc and they do go with the bike. Also just remembered that indicators were absent when I got it too.
Bushie can you let me know if you want it by 6pm tonight?.... then otherwise I'll know if I can pass the option on to XS650.
thanks

No probs, I'll rebox the parts so it is ready to go. Frame is also bare at the moment, so you could probably transport the whole deal in a decent sized wagon - no trailer required.
I really need it gone asap.
cheers
