    Question Which Tyres?

    Hey guys,

Looking at getting some new tyres for my crf450. Now i have no idea what type of riding i do (actually i do, its called slow riding), most of the times it will be with you guys anyway.

What do you guys recommend? Where should i get said recommended tyre from?

    Cheers!

Edit: Currently i have scorpion mx mid soft 110/90/19 and Cross competition sl2 90/90/21

pilot 3's might be a good option if you stay on the tarmac.

my berg has MT 60RS CORSA's from Pirelli on it the rear only lasted 6000k they are pretty soft the reason forgetting them was they are a supposedly ok off road and with the gravel up north seemed like a reasonable option.

    Nert.

CRF is unregisterable. So its slicks for the track, or seeing as this is in the talking dirty section he is hunting knobblies.

I used to run cheap tyres on the back...

If you are not racing, you don't need to pay the extra dollars for a tiny bit more grip...

As for the front, I really like to be able to turn and keep the front hooked up, so I spent good dollars on my fronts...

Not sure whats available nowadays, but the above system worked for me...

    Dirt?

    Hard pack?
    soft pack?
    Garvel?
    sand?
    Limestone?

All makes a difference to tire choice.

If you want to spend some money and buy nice stuff...
Go for some Michelin M12s (medium compound)

But in all honesty.... choose a lug pattern you think looks cool and buy it. It's not going to make that much difference with the amount of riding they'll cop.
I'm running Michelin S12s on sand and limestone, with occasional gravel, with little wear.

i'm still running the bridgestone ED03 front ED04 rear that came with the bike whenever i hit the dirt, about 2500kms on road and off and they've still got plenty of tread left, they seem to be good on most surfaces and still handle road riding if you had to blast a highway section here and there for some reason.

+1 for Michelin S12's. Thats what I'm running atm and know lot of guys that swear by them.

or you could go the M12's (medium compound)

Bridgestone M403/404, and Metzler MC5 are also good medium compounds. Those pirelli scorpions are good too.

Just remember tho coming into summer if you ride anywhere thats got some hardpack/limestone/gravel it will tear knobs off no matter what tyre you get. Just use a cheapy on the rear. Front should be ok with soft-med compound still.
Can't ride for shit, but I fall really good!

I swear by the Bridgestone M203/204 for the sand and pea gravel of Perth. These are an intermediate to soft tire. Replaced the front tire M203 after 2 years but it had plenty of life left. The M204 rear wears well but can shed knobs if used heavily in rocky areas. I tried the M404 intermediate rear but I liked the M204 better. IMO, you need intermediate to soft in any reputable brand. I paid $249 for both fitted at Dirt Dungeon but you can buy tires over the net a fair bit cheaper if you want to fit them yourself.

Used to love a dunlop 752 front with a 756 rear (i think i got the numbers correct). Now rocking michelin AC10's only for the dot approval (not that you are needing that) and am wearing fronts down quicker than rears they really dont like endo's on bitumen. But i do find them good on the dirt.

    Hey all ive got a CRF450X I'm
Jut wondering what tyre pressure you run. I've still got standard tyres on it. At about 80km i get speed wobbles so I'm not sure if it's the tyre pressure I'm running
    Any help would be great

No sticker on swing arm. I've got the workshop Manual but need to find it lol. Trying to look on line and it says 15 from and 15 rear but I always thought you have more in the rear.

Speed wobbles (head shake?) Could be fork position, incorrect sag.

So get the suspension set up. It's brand new and only done 350 km. it's had the lower link in it which is only 1 1/2" I think. Wouldn't think thy would do much. I thought it could be having to much pressure in the tyres.
