Bike alarms....?

who has one and what type/brand do u use?

Im looking to put one on my bike and am wondering what path to follow? or should i not bother and just go with a disk lock?

opinions wanted!

Scorpio. Higher end in price, but can't fault it. Had it for a year, 0 problems.

Ive got the XZZ6 Disc Lock Alarm. It looks pretty strong, and the alarm is loud enough. Bloody good value at $65. The more protection you have...

Apparently those Xeon disc locks just get busted open (by maybe a big ass hammer or something?) if some prick wants to steal your ride. I had one for about 24 hours and the stupid bastard would'nt stop going off its nut, so i took it back

Xena, I has it. I ripped the guts out of it because it was a screaming bitchcunt. (so there). Fine as a disk lock, shit as an alarm - false alarms all the time, then wouldn't set off when I took the bike off the stand.

PM carbon13 for one of his fully sick awesome $77 alarms. But when you get it, cut the pink and grey wires off the loom side of the big plug - this will save you lots and lots of trouble.

My Xena disclock alarm has gone well for 2 yrs - only just replaced the battery (came with spare). Doesn't scream for long, but gets attention. Also fits straight onto matching chainlock for use at home with humungous chain thru anchor in floor. Need a sledge and some time to get it moved. Got all this at Total in Vic Park, but not cheap. At that time they were very friendly and helpful - standard is pretty damned poor recently, tho. They seem to resent people coming in the door, and some staff wouldn't know if their arses were on fire. Shop around, but Xena seems pretty good.

I have a Spy alarm that I got of ebay and seems to work great. I still have the bike so must work.Cheap as chips paid $13 including postage. I also use a Xena disc lock

Maybe it's just me with electronic shit, but my disc lock alarm went off!! i changed the position on the disc like it said to, which would make it more or less sensitive but it made no diff. Anyway about a week after i returned it to the no names mentioned store, i see the very same disc lock back on the shelf for sale again (reconised it by the way i had opened it and accidently ripped part of the box) for some other poor bastard like me to purchase. So in saying all that maybe i just got ripped like the person that purchased my returned disc lock.

I've got the SR-i500.

A coupla weeks after I got it fell out of my pocket and got squashed so I got a replacement, but I think I stuffed up the battery on the remote so it only lasts for a coupla days. But you don't have to worry about locking your bike and the battery dying on you, coz it'll turn off the page function but still enable to you to lock and unlock your bike.

another +1 for Scorpio.

I recently fitted their bottom of the line SR-i300 and couldn't be happier. Major diff between i300 & i500 is I don't get a fancy remote or the pager function.

All up it cost less than $250 delivered with a bike specific fitting kit and the perimeter sensor. Install was a 15 minute job, totally plug and play.

Disc alarms: I imagine its a pain having to run outside in the middle of the night to turn it off when it keeps false alarming due to stormy weather. Or worse, if its not a false alarm & you come face to face with a hoodlum weilding a screwdriver.
Good thing about Scorpio is the silent mode. With my bike being full-time outdoors, it gets set off by rough weather, but with silent mode it doesn't set off the siren, only the pager beeps & flashes, so doesn't piss of the neighbours- I'm in a big building so I have about 40 immediate neighbours to wake up :p
