Question 2008 aussie superbikes control tyre.

Ok just been on the aus-superbikes website and read about the dunlop control tyre for superstock and it had prices and said that wets needed to be purchased before round 1 in mid feburary.....but it doesn't say where you can get them.....any ideas?....also what would the entry fees be for 2008? or what were they for 2007 if this years aren't released yet.......cheers....

Excuse my ignorance on this matter - but does that mean that superstock in this state will have to run the same tyres?

Possibly......

Generally we are able to use any of the control tyres which are specified for the Supersport bikes, not superstock..... Mainly because we can't get any special deals similar to what they run over East.....

There will be a list coming out soon with all the tyres and options that you will be able to run for the supersport, and that is the tyres that we (600cc) bikes will be able to use if we enter in the Supersport/Superstock race and the WA Championships.

If you only intend to enter clubman 600, you can use whatever tyres you wish.

Think Lyle is refering to the ARRC rounds as he wants to do some. I'm told he is going away on a holiday soon so needs to get this sorted before he leaves I guess.

Can you give him any info Ben ??

All that info is in the website.
Tyres are from Monza Imports. Last year supp regs are also there. Last years Superstock entry fee was $349.

Will they be able to run slicks? or just use any of the tyres from the tyre list for the ARRC Supersport?

Lyle- Best place to go to is the oz supers website, Aus-Superbikes all the info is there. If you need more info you can contact their office.

BlackFZR- Sorry yes the tyre rule will still be as per the Supersport tyre rules. A couple of reasons we don't have a single brand control tyre is we don't want to make it any harder for people on a limited budget and C & D graders just entering the sport as a lot of them will run what they can get hold of and a lot of the time secondhand tyres also from a safety point with the superstock and supersport classes running together we don't want one class running 'inferior' tyres.

I had a look on the aus-superbikes website and couldn't find that....mustn't have looked in the right spot...cheers for the info Ben and cunningassasin . can't wait....definetely doing Mallala as it won't cost much to get the bike there and flights are unusually cheap at the moment. should be a great experience.

Just out of curiosity i called monza imports this morning, the tire they will be running is the Dunlop D211GP N Tec, there are none in aus yet, should be here by the end of Feb. retail price on them is $627 a set! hopefully for anyone running arrc rounds they will do a better deal like pirelli did last year.

Sounds a bit better than the retail price they quoted me!, wonder what the go is though with D209 and D211, according to Monza the D209's are old stock, which they have none left and the d211 will be replacing them. Fuck it would be nice to get the same and correct information about things in this country.

Sean'o the tyres cunning quoted are the control tyres for the National Superstock series... I believe the deal is set up only for competitors competing at the rounds. N Tec's are the race tyres for Supersport and Superbike and the $600 quoted would be correct

The N techs were raved about last year by a lot of the factory teams and other people who used them ! you had to pay a fair bit more for them but people said they were worth it !
I've never riden them (sold the new set I had) but some of the local guys who have ridden them have struggled a bit to get the bike setup right so they were chewing the rear out pretty quickly, plus to add to the heartache mid season last year you couldn't buy a set of them as most had been allocated to the factory teams, i heard of guys buying them in the UK and shipping them over to Aust just to be able to get a set !
if you want to run the N techs this year then hopefully they have their shit sorted out when it comes to the amount they bring in ! If you get a chance to buy them at the start of the year then buy as many as they will let you or as many as you can afford !
