WTF is it with that roundabout? I have been in so many close calls from idiots doing that shit. Maybe we should have a compulsory round-a-bout awareness training day camp for these people.

The bus I catch in the mornings now turns right from kent st into hayman rd at the 2 lane roundabout. Today's driver decided to drive directly over the white line separating the lanes. Every other driver seems to be able to stick to a lane!
Also today, blue commodore tried to do a u-turn on canning hwy just on the freo side of henley st. Apparently he doesn't know the road very well. The road island there is more than a car length across, and the side he was going to is somewhat higher than where he was coming from. Got himself beached on the curb, couldn't get off, and half blocked one lane.

With 2 sets of lights already there, that would only make traffic worse in my opinion.
People would push for that orange/red light because, no doubt, they would of gotten those two reds.
I think you would almost get away with roundabouts over roe hwy, like they do with the Karel Ave.
It's just people not knowing how to use a roundabout, only one lane allows you to turn right.
That and people going when they can't see if both lanes are clear or not.

Yeah I see a lot of people turning left from Nicholson towards Roe from the right lane in the mornings.
I guess they figure that the only reason anyone would be in the left lane at that time would be to turn left, so there's little chance of getting sideswiped by someone going straight. Which is a reasonable enough assumption because it's backed up for several hundred meters. Doesn't make it any less stupid though.

The fuckhead in the silver astra thing on Roe lastnight around 1800. You think it's funny to give the horn a toot and try to ride up my arse the when I move out the way pull in front and brake hard. You weren't expecting to be followed to the lights were you. Weren't so tough after all your gesturing and mouthing from the safe confines of your cage.
Hope you enjoyed my rant, "Next time cunt I'll kick your panels in and drag you out of your car and rip off your head and shit down your neck!"
Not like me I'm usually so reserved and eloquent. Not last night.
edit: he said, shaking, "please calm down."
then shut his window (which he opened enough to hear me)

The cockmasher parked fair across my lawn... you aren't visiting me, so fuck off!
That lawn is like a child to me... I tend it fanatically. Get your POS corolla off it or I will joust with your car using these spare 90 mm support beams I have leftover from building my deck...

And why is it that on the Nicholson rd roundabout at Yale rd, when heading south on Nicholson, people wont use the right lane to go straight ahead? Nope they sit in the fucking left lane, blocking it up while the right has fucking half the cars in it? You dumb fucks you CAN go straight from the right lane on that roundabout! Would make getting home after work a fucking lot less of a piss off. </rant>

hi cat
glad your o.k. but the best rule that i like to ride & survivie by is "always assume the driver cannot see you" & be ready for them to place their steel box right in front you

NO.
They need to get rid of the lights up the road so traffic continues to flow.
Roundabouts work just fine if you use roundabouts.
If you fuck the traffic flow either side of them with lights, well... check out what happens.
There's no such thing as "too busy for a roundabout" (given that they're sized appropriately). In other less brain damaged nations, they work just fine.
edit:
This is the big thing Aussie/US traffic engineers just don't seem to "get" that the europeans do. If you keep traffic FLOWING, you can handle a lot more. Traffic stopped on the road is an obstruction, for as long as it takes to slow down, stop and get back up to speed. All that time where lights are red but there's no traffic in the other direction? Wasted traffic capacity. Ditto for those times where the lights are orange and no one is crossing - wasted road-usage time.
If you can increase the average speed by 10-20% (either via raising the limit or getting rid of obstructions) you can easily handle 10-20% more traffic. Conversely, lowering limits by 10-20% will increase traffic by 10-20% as everyone will be using the road for longer periods of time.
