Yeah, but that particular jump was 'Video Games cause violence' ----> 'Yeah? So does the Bible.'
Youre not incorrect, but its also waaaaay off topic.
Besides, no need to defend it to me - I 'd!

Hmm so we are more litigious now than 50 years ago because 1950s litigators were crappy lawyers doing a crappy job?

Love it Spuddy

Indeed.

I haven't been away that long have I?

I like the lack of distinction between which forms and genre of media have an acceptable influence and which have an unacceptable influence when said influence is more often than not violence.

Like America's "Good" nuclear weapons vs North Korea's (previously Russia's) "Evil" nuclear weapons.

Not quite what I said, but its true in part - Being a lawyer is a job that is defined and redefined constantly by precedents set by other lawyers. So its a constantly evolving role.

Meh, precedent is set by superior courts. I don't think there's too many innovative lawyers out there turning precedent on its head.

It doesnt need to be turned on its head, if there was no precedent to begin with.
But after the first person said "oh, I hammered that guys face in with a baseball bat and then stole his car because I played GTA" everyone elses ears pricked up - "aha", they would have thought, "I can blame it all on video games? Its the perfect crime!"

You can't legislate against dumb or crazy. (Without the lefties getting pissed off.)

Police said the youth, an obsessive player of Grand Theft Auto, showed no sign of mental problems during questioning and had confessed to committing the crime because of the game.
Somebody pick the non sequitur in that statement.

That's only a mitigating circumstance if you're accused of eating somebody on a bus.

No, not sue for damages; make a plea in mitigation to reduce your life sentence.

Still up for that bus ride?
