Dava - one of the best bling mods that I think I put on my 1098S was a set of gold anodized billet reservoir covers (fr brake, rr brake & clutch - i think they come in a couple of colours though). I scored them off RatedR Parts thru e-bay for under $100.00 & they are excellent quality. As soon as they were fitted it seemed to "lift" the cockpit of the bike. To date I've spent about $10k on mods, but still reckon this one is worth doing early on.

yeah Steve pointed these out to me a while ago. I think they're made by SSR. The same mob made my rearsets and bar ends. Would love the gold but dont have gold anywhere else so might look odd.
Perhaps the red to match the bar ends would be cool.
thanks

great looking machine but they didn't do the full C/F fairing. another example of built to a price (not like the old days......) no adjustable steering head angle either.
oh well the bean counters win again

1098R does have adjustable steering head angle, check the spec sheet as well as the parts catalog. Looking at the bike is a little deceiving as it doesn't have the obvious look like earlier models. Also the 05/06 749R were not all carbon body either.

I don't think it's built down to a price considering the traction control is on it as well as it already has titanium pipes, the TTX shock contributes as well.

That traction control might already be in the 848 and 1098 but not activated..........
Rumours abound!

that's interesting. it looks like it has the steering head alignment pin but couldn't see any offset in the tube. the ducati site tech spec says it's fixed at 24.5 deg. if you have other info i stand corrected. seems to me that 10mm longer in wheelbase and 1 deg more rake(than the 749r) will make it comparitively slow to turn. 2004 749r has c/f as well! $c/f fairing >$ electronics

Hi streetbikes, from a newbie.
For anyone interested, I was just down town getting custom plates for my R and I checked 1098R is still available as a custom plate.
Run in was an interesting 1000k's, most fun I've had in 2 days. Those little 'red line' ights come on very quickly but there is no stutter when it hits the limiter - want more speed? just change up.

Like the monsta's, especially a black 1000? I saw that might make a nice town bike :-) Only looked at em for the first time last week big range to choose from. Hypermotad too! wont need my WR ;-)
I had a dream on the R that I wanna sort out a camcorder to film the dash running down (say) Toodyay road when 4th is goin from 10K revs to 13. Christmas tree at 260 as we kick into 5th. and those great sweepers. Then maybe the tight stuff around Copley D - Joy! We should all have these things eh?
And of course kiddies. Keep it for the track. It's best to only imagine doing these sorts of totally insane things.

Picked mine up last week from Frasers.
I don't know how to attach dyno results taken after 1000k service today -got no website but can email. Results maybe A bit soft after rain interrupted run in. I probably need to push it a bit harder
164 rw hp with baffles out after R ecu and termis fitted against 157 stock. Termis with baffles in is similar to stock numbers. I'm expecting better as run in continues. Torque 90lbs peaking about 7k revs.
Rain last weekend and no DTC made traction in mid revs interesting. Turned DTC on 7 (in wet) today after fitting and gave it a handful in second and it sorta hops almost whilst controlling spin. I'm guessing about 5 or 6 in wet will allow better controlled spin. Will try on the way home. What a great street bike. Confident riding in shitty rain for 3 days on tyres that look like grooved slicks on a thing that has oodles of power and weighs not much more than my old trail bike.
Every home should have one.
