    1950 BSA C11 rebuild

Hi Guys, I appreciate all the interest shown in the 'welcome' thread, so for those that are interested, here are a few pics of the rebuild.
The bike is a rigid 1950 BSA C11, 250cc single cyclinder.
I bought it from a guy in Perth (there is a couple of pics of it somewhere on this forum in the for sale section) and the bike was originally purchased from Mortlake Bros in Hay St Perth. Unfortunately I don't have any solid provenence related to it's history other than that, but it is registered and will be regularly ridden when it's completed.
At the moment it is completely stripped and undergoing a total rebuild back to as close as I can get it to factory spec, so keep checking back over the next few months as I start to put her back together......
    I hope the pics work...

    Thanks
    James

Sick. I saw a 50s BSA go by in the back of a ute today. I'll be following this closely.

Nice project mate, I redid a c12 early last year. Not fast, but a real enjoyment to ride. Will you be bringing it down to albany for the hillclimb classic later this year?

I'm just wondering how your making out. I have the same bike here in Canada and i'm looking at starting the rebuild this spring. I would love to see more pictures and hear about and difficulties you've had ( you know to save some grief perhaps).

    Cheers,

    Hi Elk,

The progress has been slow with Christmas getting in the way and I've been away overseas a few times, but - aside from a few minor hitches the project has been relatively smooth. The frame etc has been powdercoated and is ready for re-assembly, the engine and gearbox were rebuilt, wheels rechromed and rebuilt with new s/s spokes and painted strip, the chronometric speedo was reconditioned and looks mint, I should have the tank back from the chromer next month and then I'm waiting for the tin to come back from the painter, had a few problems there but hopefully shouldnt be too much longer. I'm looking to have it back on the road by the end of June. I'll post some new pics when there is something more exciting than boxes of parts. I have been lucky with this bike in that it was very original and not too much was missing, I have a '49 C11 that I'm going to do next and it is a real basket case. Send me a message if you want anything specific and if I can help I'll be happy to point you in the right direction.

    Cheers,
    James

    Hey James ,
    How's it turning out?
I'm a little behind on my 50 bsa. I have the painted parts back, all the frame parts done, waiting on the spokes and speedo. I think i'm stuck untill spares arrive. Ill fire off some pictures as soon as I figure out how.

Hi Elk, Sounds good - I'm still way behind schedule....getting distracted with the other projects, boats, fishing etc. I have most of the bits back and have been messing around assembling the forks last weekend. Have all the major components ready and will find out when I start to assemble what I've forgotten. haha
Hopefully the pics will turn out - the tank looks sensational...
