HDR Photography of my bike (Not Dial-up Friendly)

Saw this on another forum, and thought I would give it a go. For other examples, please visit here

This is a few samples of other peoples work......

High Dynamic Range photography works by taking a lot of different exposures of the same scene, and the merging them together so that you get the whitest of whites, and darkest of darks. This gives you a sort of CGI type of cast to the images.....

Below is a single exposure of the bike, that was used as part of my final HDR image. As you can see it isn't really all that great by itself.

However once I merged 14 different images taken from F3.4 up to F32, the image came out quite a bit different, with a whole lot better clarity, depth perception, and a better colour range.......

    I like it

Luckily Photoshop CS3 actually has the option to do it all for you.....

And I think I'll be trying this in a few other places as well. You can get some awesome effects......

Woah .... that looks great. The colour and detail are phenomenal ... Great work. Be interesting to see other shots done the same way. (Narrows Bridge shots, foreshore, etc)

That's awesome mate, next time I think you need a white bike as well for a bit of contrast. Luckily I know someone who has a couple.

I've done the same sort of thing on my compact. Love HDR, tis great fun - if done right, can have some really bizarre results too.

If you don't have the program Photomatrix, it's a handy one to "obtain" simply for the HDR function (it's basically useless IMO when compared against Photoshop except for HDR) - I haven't got CS3, but from memory when I used it it wasn't as easy as using Photomatrix, and the results weren't as good.

EDIT: did you shoot in RAW or did you use several JPEG images?
Dual sport riders do it in the dirt
