You pay extra for the convenience. If you want cheap candy, you call into the supermarket on the way.
yeah thats we figured (group assignment) it was just a thought and it doesn't have to work I guess, I am sure there could be something that could be done, there are loop holes everywhere. We just gotta figure out the rest of it

Thanks for you input though Cam it is now taken onboard (serious)

Food competition within the vicinity would be bad. People stop buying from the candy bar, cinema loses profits (as I said before that's where they'd make the most money). Cinemas would then need to crank up the price of the tickets which in turn means they'd lose more money in loss of audience.

How Often you would go to the movies/cinema? 2-5 times a year
How many people? (example: Couple/Family/Single Ticket(either go by yourself or with friends) 2-5 friends usually..sometimes by myself.
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc) will buy (one of) popcorn/choc/icecream depending on mood. Sometimes nothing.
What you think of the value of these extras. getting screwed but expected.
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside? will take a bottle of water from outside if I remember

My brother is a DVD collector with a nice home system so going to the movies is getting less often. Now it's just for the must see on the big screen movies or to catch up with friends I haven't seen in a while.

Few times a year for me. Because of the last point, most movies these days are unfortunately shit.

How Often you would go to the movies/cinema? Couple of times a month over the course of a year.
How many people? (example: Couple/Family/Single Ticket(either go by yourself or with friends) 2 or more often a group.
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc) Popcorn and a drink is a regular.
What you think of the value of these extras. Attrociously overpriced.
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside? If poor, try and smuggle in.

Very, very basic run down is this.

Selling movie tickets makes them sweet fuck all. Would barely pay the rent.

Having employees to sell you tickets and clean up after jackasses in the cinema, all down to candy bar takings.

The takings against tickets are low enough to almost bother not counting. It goes something like this:

Distributor has an amazing, shit-hot new film out. Distributor says to cinema "Here is our amazing film, you must run it in three day sessions and three night sessions, at least five days a week, but you must not run it against our other film we've got out at the moment too, also we're going to be taking 90% of ticket sales for the first five weeks, then to be fair to you after that point, we'll only take 89%, cheers. If you don't agree to this, you don't get any of our films, ever again."

Numbers pulled randomly from my ass, but they're somewhat accurate and that's essentially the cinema business in a nutshell. Some really huge movies, the distributor will take all ticket sales for a specified period before allowing the cinema chain to keep any. Without overpriced popcorn for jerk offs to throw at one another, cinemas would have an exceptionally hard time staying afloat. As it is there's no real money in the business of showing films anymore, not since DVD's got popular. Your local cinema is not selling you movies. It's selling you candy and a chair to sit in while somebody else lets you watch their movie for a nominal charge.

What you think of the value of these extras. There is no value to be thought of. Stupidly unnecessarily overpriced, but hey if I had people willing to buy popcorn from me at 40x cost price I wouldn't charge any less!
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside? If I have the opportunity to plan ahead I'll bring from outside.

thats pretty much spot on.

as for me:

How Often you would go to the movies/cinema? maybe once or twice a year these days. it would have to be a movie i really wanted to see otherwise id just wait till it went to dvd or id forget it altogether
How many people? (example: Couple/Family/Single Ticket(either go by yourself or with friends) usually myself and one other
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc) Usually just a drink

Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside? never bring in from outside

How Often you would go to the movies/cinema? Maybe 3-4 times a year
How many people? (example: Couple/Family/Single Ticket) Either me and a friend or me and three kids
What you would general buy? (Popcorn/Drinks/Lollies/Ice cream etc etc) If me only then I buy a popcorn, a drink and occasionally a choc top. If me and three kids then either shared maxi popcorn and two large drinks to share or bring in our own stuff.
What you think of the value of these extras. They are all seriously overpriced so its worth me making the extra effort to bring in snacks from outside if taking the three kids with me.
Do you buy from Candy Bar or bring in from outside? As mentioned - if the family are with me then I bring in from outside or its cost prohibitive to take the family to the movies therefore we could go less often. Kids will buy lollies and drinks from supermarket and load up their pockets
