I'm just a little curious
as to why our road racing
is held in winter.
Can anyone give me some info on this.

It is set (the season) at a National Level I believe.

I never understood why soccer is played in summer?!

Racing around the world is run based on Europe summer (I think).

I have always said it would be to have a season ran in summer here :) , never happen :(

It would be pretty hard to play soccer
in the snow and have no spectators,
I assume that's why soccer is played
in summer in Europe.
I'm sure if road racing was held in summer
there would be a lot more people going
to the track, which i'm sure would generate
more money for raod racing here in Perth
anyway.
I know I would attend more races, in the last 5 years
I have only been to maybe 4 races, where as even though the drags
bore me I still participate almost once a week, I would
much prefer to road race than play at the drag strip, but I have
no interest in racing in winter.

I would rather do laps in over cast/cold/drizzle than summer heat most days.

You can drink 6 litres and still get dehydrated in summer.. yikes, that time again almost.

Spring and Autumn are the best for weather and rider comfort for sure!!

The European soccer season plays right through the winter and breaks just before there summer....then starts again towards the end of summer.
Most clubs in cold climates have under ground heating to keep the playing field ice/frost free to prevent injuries.

I'd imagine it gets hot enough out there when racing without doing it in 35-45 degree heat..
And as Clavin said it aligns with the European season which has more say when things happen than here....

Does that mean we have to jump when the Europeans say jump?
The main bike racing countries in Europe get just as hot as it is here in summer
Italy, Spain, France, Germany, I gather you haven't been there.

I LIKE THIS SUBJECT.

hahahaha I'm Scottish......I lived there for 30 years,
They may get hot weather when it's summer but not 35 - 45 throughout summer....

Regarding a should you jump when Europe says so ?? Whatever turns you on.....I don't care....

Maybe we should ask the question, or get a vote going
on which season people would like to race in or
just to go and watch the racing.

Dont like the idea of seasons in general. Bring it on 12 months a year!!! :D

If i don't make it to the first race next season i'm going to kick my own ass! :)

I would love to race all year round, but there's no way in hell I could afford it :(

A standard season costs me around $6k and that's with out crashing.

He went halves in a CBR600rr with a ex local racer from WA (If I remember correctly), last thing I remember being told the crashed the bike pretty badley but Nashy was fine. Adrian Mettam speaks to Nashy often, next time you see him ask the question.
