That's absolutely farkin' amazing :o Were you hand-holding that? 'Cause if you were you must have VERY steady hands at that focal length!

That is one of the most stunning things I have seen (in regard to focal length) - what a cool 'toy' B) Makes a 640mm extension seem like a weak piece of crap <_<

Care to share the exact specs of your lens for us camera geeks? Is that 960mm with the 1.6x FOV crop?

yeh, since on digial you have 1.6x the lens is really only 600mm, but making it like a 960mm on film, as quoted!

172153I'm not a big camera guru, but surely getting a 350D and putting a cheap lens on it is like buying a ferrari and fitting those emergency spare wheels on it. (albeit with a fancy hubcap)

That's a loaded question Fordy, lenses are seriously expensive gear. If you have some time, check this out: http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/lenses.html or maybe pm me, djnitrous or one of the other canon users on PSB (TurboR1 I think has a Canon too). Don't be afraid to get something second hand or on eBay (I got a near 4k lense for just over a grand off eBay).

Fordy your first problem is... its a canon, no offence but every1 known nikon own most of the photography world. Digital is good, film is better.

I agree with the 'spare wheels on the ferrari' analogy, its fucked. You are MUCH better off buying an average 1990's nikon film slr (something with motor drive tho), (i still have my old F90, its still an excellent camera), and spending your remaining $ on the biggest baddest fuckoff lens u can afford.

Nikon have a couple of badasses like:
Nikon AF VR Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED
Nikon AF Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED
Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF

Any of these lenses on an 80's and newer nikon will produce better results than a D2X with sigma rubbish lenses.

2nd hand lenses are ok, check 4 dust, fungus, smooth operation of all bits, inc iris.
Good luck
