Ok so as it stands, ive had this bike for 2 months. Bought it cheaply with a ruined crankshaft, and a missing oil pump. The engine came in 2 boxes:lol:

Just found out i am getting a refund for the wiseco crankshaft/conrod kit i purchased 7 weeks ago:mad: so im back to square one. Wiseco seem to be perpetually out of stock with this kit at $330 delivered, and im not suprised as its almost half the price of everything else i can find. It comes with gaskets and main bearings.

So can anyone point me in a better direction? or should i part it out?

Apparently, wiseco will have it again mid september but thats another 7 weeks to not get something again!! And i still need a oil pump.

the bikes a 03 model and is otherwise in good nick

new crank seems alot cheaper than i thought it would be and i wouldn't think an oil pump would be too expensive, could be a cheap moto... you'll just have too wait for the parts.

or you could part it out for a nice profit if you got it cheap enough... how much for the complete bike?

Wait it out, you've waited this long right? I waited months for parts before...

Chuck a sheet over it if that helps? haha

Are you specifically after wiseco?
Maybe give some other mobs a call like ballards?

Hot Rods are good.

Hot Rods, Inc. (http://www.hotrodsproducts.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=cAbout.view)

They should have one similar to wiseco.

hot rods have nothing for it??? wierd. saw some parts on ebay UK from hotrods but not with bearings and gaskets.

I think this model is prone for chewing big ends now, as i cant find anything in stock at a reasonable price.

Ill sensibly put it aside for a week or so and seroiusly think of selling/parting of fixing.
ATM im looking at $300 crank/conrod, $100main bearings $50?gaskets, $130 oil pump
I paid $1300 for the bike

And dirt infected i still have a 400f so no thanks mate.

hotrods YZF crank will fit the WR.

No worries

you've done it? Any reliability issues to mention?

I'd suppose that it's exactly the same... But email and ask them I reckon

I haven't done it, but I have put YZ pistons in my WR.

The WR motor is always the same as the previous years YZ, with the exception of the last 3, where YZ has gone to a 13.5:1 comp ratio while WR has stayed at 12.5.

If you just get a standard YZ crank from hotrods for the year before your WR you'll be fine. No reliability issues. If you go a stroker of any sort then you'll know what you're doing, know what crank and piston you need, know if you'll have valve clearance issues and wouldn't be asking for advice here. Obviously with increasing performance a bit you will decrease longevity. Not much though I'd say.

I put a Prox crank kit in mine for around the same dollars.

ive read the wr is different due to having a larger magneto/flywheel. makes sense, thats why they have different part numbers.

tried that possibility already, cheers for the thought though DirtInfected

checking out the proX stuff now marty..

first start up this morning, all is great, oil pressure(new pump), valves shimmed, was a bit tight for the first few kicks but most of the bearings are new. its obvious but it loves to rev, compared to the 400. cant wait to ride it now and see if its all that.... and put it alongside matts rmx:eek:

oh and cheers marty, watched your yzf rebuild and perth trailscene. very helpful.

its an awesome feeling to put together a bike sold in boxes and have it run in the first few kicks. and sound sweet, while having no leftover parts to eat:lol:

The only reason there was no parts to eat is cause diesel ate them last month. lol

dunno mate, well work it as it comes.

shouldn't be a prob with the 125, as long as i go faster than the tree it was leaning against all last weekend.

i cant give you too much shit for having a tempremental 2 stroke though, i bought another one^_^

Hey guys, give me a call if you head out mid week. I am a dole bludger ATM as my work made me redundant. Got a new back tyre on the 125 and a hand held GPS so we can go exploring. Well done on the WR Smitto, although you can't be a real mechanic if you haven't got at least a couple of bolts left over LOL.

Shit Paul that sucks...

and as for the ride maybe one afternoon this week? i can finish at 2pm but otherwise i start then. Wife and i are heading away for long weekend.

and as for my bike it runs great BUT dogs are worn on 5th gear so it slips. bit upsetting as i thought it'd be ok.

going to order the parts and ride it till they arrive
