View Full Version : Important, what colour biro?

thro
12-12-2012, 01:28 PM
So psb, i've finally run out of stolen biros and need to make an investment.

What colour should I buy?

The thing is there are many colours on teh market and I don't have tiem to test them all myself

I don't want to waste money buying a colour i don't like or that I'll want to get rid of in 12 months time.

ps
I am tall, about 6'1 and 92kg
i'm right handed and like industrial music

^i prefer the felt tip permanent marker pen for writing, gives handwriting that subtle calligraphic flourish that ball points dont.

I haven't personally tried orange, but I once read a blog about a guy who's daughters boyfriends uncles brothers husband once had an orange pen and he was able to twist that thing like no tomorrow.

On second thoughts, have you considered a permanent marker? Noone will fuck with you then?

It's heavy, and unfortunately all the weight is high in the pen, so tip in may be a bitch. Once you get used to the writing style it'll be fine though. The ergonomics are simple yet comfortable, and remember you get what you pay for.

But fuck it. We're all gonna post pens, you won't take any of our advice (although we've been using pens for years) and just buy the pen you've had your eye on since starting this thread anyway.

You can wash ballpoints off cheques and re-write them! If you are using ball points you are likely to be still using cheques.

A good pen should be capable of effective ear wax removal and upper back/neck scratching.

I've found you get the most lean angle out of a sharpened pencil compared to a biro but you'll need to sharpen the tip more often, every couple of hundreds ks or a few dozen ampersands as there is a large 180 degree right hander followed by a 270 degree left then a long straight. It's best to work on your cornering skills on your 2B50 license before moving onto your o-pen class license.

of course he didn't crash it, he laid it down to avoid a crash after a slippery piece of paper blew across his path, then when he went to pick it up again he dropped it and tripped over trying to pick it up, that's how it got damaged.

I've found some spy shots of concept pens that will be shown at Tokyo 2013:

81018

With that front end they look like Buellpoints, or maybe MV Drawgustas.

Do you think they'll go into production? I hope so. I reckon I could pick up plenty of librarians if I had one of those

Hardly Writeable have a concept pen too:

Dunno...it looks fantastic but fuckin hell it must weigh so much with all that bling; I reckon it would handle really badly.

Trace day at Barbs next weekend, getting ur lines write is heaps important and you'll wanna sort your spring preload. Thats why I talk to a mate of my bro, he knows all about clickable biros and stuff like that. Dun forget the FNW too.

As an alternative, have you thought about a retro custom? I've seen a few cool charcoals around lately - stuff the fibre, just go carbon baby!

It doesn't have to be usable, people just have to see that you have one and that it's got more impressive numbers than theirs.

Seriously the OP needs to try putting WD40 on his old pen. Will give you so much more smoothness and you'll triple the life of the pen. Dont listen to the dicks that will tell you to re-ink it, they probably work for an overstocked ink store.

Here check out these links on AVRider and ASB................... their 'like' button works too.

I just hope you practice your full stops. You would be amazed at some that go on, Blithely unaware how important they are until it's too late and they barrel into cliche after cliche which then has inevitable end of contradiction and hubris.

Tldr. Try black, you will never go back.
