Yes unfortunatley he passed away at the scene,I had just passed him at the end of berry rd where it meets toodjay rd,he locked up the back wheel on the bend but by the time he got control he was heading straight for the tree.He was a freind of one of our group of riders ,just came out for a ride today on hayabusa, turned a good day into a very sad day for all of us.

Our riding group went to go down that road today but the police were at the corner with a group of other bikes. We went past thinking they were conducting traffic ops. It wasn't till later that one of the guys said someone had possibly come off there. Very sad news. RIP rider and thoughts are with his family.

Saw the road blocked by police - guessed something serious had happened - it's their standard practice. We've had to divert often enough to know by now. Always sad news, when it's confirmed, however.

We were with this chap and his mate as he fought a good fight to survive this accident. It was very sad to see him not make it back.
To the medics, the cops, the chopper pilot who landed the chopper on a 10c piece and the lads that helped at the scene, good on you all I don't think anyone could have done anything more.
O Brien rd was treacherous in places this morning with the gravel right across the rd in 2nd turn, lost it for a split second on it, honkey nuts in alot of places, alot of bikes out there and groups of pushies going opp way to main flow. I dont think any of these things contributed to what happened but just be careful out there. Your day can change in seconds.

I can understand the confusion.
I heard a similar report about the same road on the radio today.

There was a crash around 10am today near the start of toodyay road.

I road past him, his bike was in the middle of a lane and he was laying on the side of the road on his side with people.

He was still alive but looked in pain.

I took him to ED. Poor bloke had a very sore leg but after we loaded him up with drugs he was in a much happier place

Another case of SMIDSY unfortately. Ute pulled out and then it was bike vs steel bullbar.
Ute driver very sorry and just worried he was okay tho.

this was the BMW rider?

I saw him leave the petrol station, just a casual cruisey rider.

one reason why I like seeing dates in the thread title!

Good work Yagadan :)

I don't really like starting rides from that servo for this very reason, prefer Shell further down and come through the lights, no having to pull out into traffic near a major intersection (unless you use the intersection, which most don't)

Off track a bit but I was going for a Toodjay ride yesterday and Neaves road was blocked just before the Maze by the Police (I thought one their detectives might have gotten lost in there). Anyone know what that was about?

Hopefully not a repeat of the SMIDSY double fatality (rider/pillion) 500m west of the maze a year or so ago.

Personally I think most of Neaves Rd east of Old Yanchep Rd (Pinjar?) to its termination should be 110kph with exception of an 80 zone at the Maze. Being a tourist venue that gives indecisive/distracted drivers time to pull their finger out.

Yeah mate, a fuel tanker had rolled over or something.

Yippee! free fuel...heard about another rollover @ GEH bypass/Abernethy on the two-way today.

Back on topic: well done Yagadan, and best wishes to the rider involved.
Bike vs bullbar, ouch! Been there, done that, and it's not a lot of fun.

They have only just lowered the speed limit from Grt Northern to the Maze it was 100 kph and now its 90 kph and then back to 110 kph but will probably lower it too at some stage :-(
