Just cruising home and ran into a very very very badly smashed up bike at the intersection of Albany Highway and Shepperton Road (infront of the mcdonalds).

Its a red bike (honda 929/954 maybe) and definatly looks written off. Crash investigation were in attendance and the rider looked to have been removed. I asked a police officer if the rider was ok and he "didnt know" and moved me on.

Hope the rider isnt too bad

ride safe peeps

Sincere condolences to all concerned.

Let's hope they don't exonnerate the driver of the van, by suggesting speed was the only factor in this poor rider's demise.

Ride safe people.

Rider was Paul McMeakin, known him for a few years now. Absolute tragedy, only had his bike for a couple of weeks. The worse part about it is he leaves behind a young wife also in her early 20's; they've only been married for a couple of years. Really feel for his wife and family right now.

Expect anything going through intersections, always be going a speed that will give you the chance to brake for something like this.

Got the call on Friday but only found out it was bike related trhis morning. Known Paul for around 8 years. Used to share a house with his brother. My mrs grew up with them. Really sad to hear.
Hey Deej, this is Katies (used to work with you) soon to be brother-in-law.

RIP Paul.

We have got to leave ourselves so much more room to compensate for the errors other road users make, otherwise we put ourselves at risk of getting killed.
I spend 7 weeks in hospital when I was 20.........lane splitting like a maniac until I got collected.
Today I am an old fucker, still riding but when I am on the bike I consider all other road users morons.
Both my bikes get taken to the limit regularly, but at times and in places where and when I am not relying on others to get home safe.

Just be careful people, I hate reading "RIP" in a forum thats supposed to be about stuff we like doing!
